Thought this pic was interesting enough to post...

I had my headlight switch apart to clean all the contacts while troubleshooting a fog light problem. It turns out the problem was the underhood relay, but I did find out why the headlight switch control illustrations don't illuminate. Looks like this bulb had a "thermal event."

maybe swap in an LED while its apart, no more heat problem

If you can get it to work, you can use an LED

The inside cluster of my foxbody dash has some of the bulb surrounds melted to. I redid them with LED's. It was ALOT of work. But the result was good.

wait so the headlight display things are spose to be lit>? only the fog light thing lightes up on mine. :confused:

The last time I heard the term "thermal event" it was from someone who makes super high pressure fuel pumps for diesel trucks and trains. He was explaining what happens when there is a leak.

As far as the bulb goes, mine doesn't look that bad, but the bulb is blown and I am in the middle of putting a LED in that same housing.

I guess the light up part on the knob has been burned out since I got the car, it's never lit up. Only thing that lights up is the fog light indicator.

I'm not sure what size bulb it is, but I changed the bulbs in my Marquis headlight switch with bulbs from Radio Shack (mini 12V bulb with leads). These bulbs had just long enough leads to wrap around the socket. The bulb head is smaller that the original so the bulb "condoms" won't fit tight, but work great.

mine was fully lit up, although my window controls had started to dim and then eventually just went out.

Yeah mine looked like that also when I took it apart, bulb was burned out and the plastic around it was also burnt.

Check your license plate light.....bulb melts the holder there too!!!:shake:

Every CV I've owned had this problem and so does the Marauder!!:cool:

Change to LEDs. No more burnt / melted sockets.

So almost 4 years later does anybody know what bulb the headlight switch uses? Mines has been burnt since i had the car. Only the fog light bulb works. Im lookin for LED and cant find what bulb size it is and i also wanna change the fog light bulb too since im in there..

As far as I know there ain't one in the switch!!

It's called a "wheat" bulb.

Upgrading my full dash Got 20 of those T10 LED bulbs for the dash

The LED bulb is a PC37 i believe.... cannot find this with LED immediately.

Did anyone use these same LED's with Turn signals and the other 6 bulbs that use this PC37 bulb?

i think the fog light bulb IS LED already :P
