I know it has been brought up before. However, lately, seleral folks have joined JUST to sell their Marauder. And the most RECENT (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=47732), well..... it speaks for itself.
I am a PAYING SUPPORTER of THIS site. This guy is not. Why should HE get FREE ADVERTISING to the niche market for FREE? I am not saying you need to be a Supporting Member, but at LEAST be part of the site! Perhaps a min post count? Other sites I am on, you need to have at least 50 posts in order to sell items. Why can we NOT do this? These \folks who join, JUST to sell OBVIOUSLY do not want to be part of this community, so..... why should let them make money off of us?

I'm not opposing your idea, just answering your retorical question.
I feel we benefit from newbie sellers in that Marauder parts and car(s) will be offered.
I posted up a 300A W/14K Brand new condition for less than $15K, a month ago.No one from here bought it or showed any serious interest.
This site is not all that great of a source to sell Marauders.

Other than requiring a membership fee to join the website, there's no way to stop any member, new or not, from posting something for sale. Brad's right, sometimes we do benefit from items offered. What we don't want is the cocky attitude.

this I think, is a great idea, what if it was made mandatory to contribute say, $20.00 to list, and say , $100.00 if you sell- for new members only on site to sell, with lets say, under 50 posts. I think it is benefical for members to get first crack at marauders for sale-maybe someone on here looking for a second, or maybe an upgrade. Just my 2 cents.

on www.vintage-mustang.com ( another site I love and the one that sent me here) you need to buy the right to sell.

Don't we all benefit from the widest market of things both to buy and to sell? Why would it matter if someone joined only to sell? If it's something us old guys want and can get it cheaper (or even at all) then why isn't that a benefit to the community?

I say let them as they already do.
I don't think that I would want to check every single poster to make sure they haven't been signed up for a specific period (some people do just lurk and read and never post) or start post counting. Even if you automated something based on time on board and/or post count, they'll just post in the wrong forum... or in their sig... and that just creates a new administrative task. Yuck.
Lets face it, if they post a sale on their first day we have a massive advantage over them as we obviously have much more information about their car than they could imagine. That could mean a low ball price. That does mean that you know every question to ask.

Because that requires infrastructure, bureaucracy, and work. Who wants that? I bet not ADMIN.

Donations are just that....not a requirement. The Members here hopefully benefit from items sold. The administration of charging for and monitoring advertising is more than we need or I have time for. A few long time Members have made donations because of their sales here but those are few and far between.

I have voiced my opionion on this topic numerous times. There should AT LEAST BE a post MINIMUM. 100 is fair. Its not fair that they just get to sell their MM or MM parts and NOT BE A PART of the POLITICS and RHETORIC of MM.net :D

I'm not even close to being a I.T. guy, but couldn't something like that be written into the software? So if you don't have "X" number of posts it won't let you start a thread in the "For Sale" forum.

Yes. So they'd post it somewhere else forcing the admins to first check their post count (>100) and then either delete it and send a warning or move it and send a friendly advice. Just another item to police. What a pita.

Heh. Posting a 'for sale' on your first post (or some other very low post count) will immediately make that person a part of the politics here. :cool4:

True, I was assuming (yes I know what it stands for I watched the Odd Couple ;) ) that people would not be sneaky.

If you watched the Odd Couple then you know people are sneaky. Oscar was a sneaky bastage. And now everyone knows how young we are not.

I still don't see how it hurts us regulars if someone uses the site only for selling thier car or parts.
Someone here will benefit.
If you notice most times members are out numbered by the guests.

Guests are mostly Patriot Act servers sifting all of the posts searching for national security threats. If you listen real carefully, you will hear the helicopters.

My $.02,I don't like when they come out and "join" a website merely to sell their "stuff" .
If we weren't good enough to associate with before they wanted to sell their "stuff' then we probably aren't deserving of the honor of buying it. And believe me,I toned down my reply considerably.

It's just me, but buying something online from a "stranger" takes alot of faith, and I would have more faith in someone that's been around longer and is "known".
Just like buying on ebay, the more feedbacks the seller has the more comfortable "I/you" feel.

Great point!
I feel the same way.
Some people are not social in/on our forum, they read only.

Goverment have been listening to us for years only now its legal for them to do so....
Echelon, which links the NSA to its counterparts in the U.K., Canada, Australia and New Zealand, amounts to a global listening network. With it, those agencies are able to sift through great quantities of communications intercepted by satellites and ground stations around the world, using computers that search for specific names, words or phrases.
Whether the NSA will go too far with Echelon is not an idle question. In the mid-1970s, the Senate and House Select Committees on Intelligence were created in part as a result of NSA violations. For decades, the NSA had secretly and illegally gained access to millions of private telegrams and telephone calls in the United States. The agency acted as though the laws that applied to the rest of government did not apply to it.

Now that was just kidding, but I'll tell you this, watch what you say on any phone or send over the internet, certain words or terms will get you noticed!
