Anyone know the size of our instrument cluster bulbs. On a business trip or I'd look it up in the shop manual.

Thanks!

Tried doing a quick look-up, wasn't able to come up with anything. Try PMing RoyLPita.

If you want the dash brighter you can use #168 instead, they have one more candle power.

Anyone wants to make a how to for this?

You're already doing it. Take some pics and call it a day?

It really helps those of us with out the manual and/ or skills. ;)

If I have time in the next few days I will cause I need to replace 1 or 2 bulbs in mine anyways.

Are there any after-market LED "bulbs" that would fit the sockets? Might be nice to get a brighter backlight and longer life.

I tried with no luck to put in LED bulbs. I tried different style of LED bulbs, but they didn't backlight the cluster evenly.
If someone found a LED that would work, please let us know.

You can change the bulbs without completely removing the cluster from the dash.
1. Remove radio.
2. Remove instrument cluster finish panel (as per attachment).
3. Remove torx head screws holding the cluster mask (clear lens) and remove mask.
4. Remove torx head screws holding the front of the cluster panel (black painted plastic) and remove panel to reveal all the cluster bulbs.
5. Carefully grab the tachometer by the top and bottom edges and firmly pull tach straight out(no screws holding it).
6. Repeat with fuel gauge and temperature gauge panel.
7. Repeat with speedometer head.
8. Plug in headlamp switch and turn lights to identify the night illumination bulbs, and turn them off.
9. Take needle noise pliers with both fingers wrapped with electrical tape and grab the bulb, squeeze gently and pull.
10. Install bulb of your choice.
11. Reverse the above steps.

The LED socket bulbs can sometimes work fine but they don't last long which is the problem.

As far as doing LEDs, I don't know if anyone has down them yet. I'm waiting to buy another gauge cluster to have my friend do it and I'll know time frame and cost if anyone else would like to get theirs done also.

The LED socket bulbs ... don't last long which is the problem.
LEDs should last significantly longer than incandescent bulbs, though cheap replacements may have quality issues. Depending on the arrangement (and other factors) of the LEDs in the replacement bulb, lighting may or may not be better.

Waiting on the LEDs to arrive.

You need to get the right LEDs. Some project the light straight out. Need to get the LEDs that project the light all all around.

Will take before & after pics.

I tried two different types of LED's, one straight shot type and one wedge shape. Neither gave even lighting in the cluster.
