PHOTOGRAPHY FORUM

Here are a few of the 400 shots I took at the air show. It took a few weeks to get aound to editing.

This batch indicates AGAIN how badly I need to upgrage my glass.
On a side note, I have narrowed my three choices to all Tokina products.

11-16mm F2.8 Wide angle
100mm fixed F2.8 Macro
80-300? F2 Tokina or Sigma fast telephoto.

Anyway....here's what we get from a Nikor 18-200 f5.6 slow asses lens. :P

I talked to those F-16's on their way out on the last day of the show. I believe they were headed to Andrews AFB? Can't remember. What I do remember is that they were doing 380kts indicated...which is about 80kts faster than the commercial jets. They were showing about 600kts ground speed...and thats a CRAWL for them!

Great pix.

Nice set Barry! I like #5 with the vapor forming on the wings! Nothing wrong with the "slow glass" on bright sunny days, just pick up a 300 or 400mm and you will be set.

you guys prolly wont belive me but i have worked on the last 2 planes in the second post. mainly the second too last one of the second post (its and L-29). they guys name is Jerry and we put a bigger engine (rolls royce viper engine) in it for him with almost twice the thrust as the stock engine. his paint job is one of the cooles ive seen, one side is evil and the other good, evil being the side Barry caught. pics look awsome Barry!

You know, I never noticed the EVIL / GOOD sides of the plane until you mentioned it. Here's the other side....but I don't see it. :dunno:

wrong plane silly lol. the experimental has to be on there to make the FAA happy. look to see if you have pics of the other side of the plane above it. that plane has the same basic type of engine that we swap into the L-29s

OOOOHHHH....The Russian sided plane

That sucks man...all right side shots that day.
I'll bet I had a left side shot and it hit the floor on the first round of editing.

Wow the detail on that russian jet! I always look forward to seeing your pictures. I'm not a professional, but I love the clarity and quality of them. I can see myself screwing them all up!

Hey thanks!

BTW, as several of us will say...just imagine how the raw 12.2 3872X2576 originals at 6 to 10 mb per image look like like on a 20" monitor. :cool4:

The ones we post here are 1024x768 at <100kb.

That's why they look good, but somewhat grainy.
If I had a host site to handle them, I'd post them.
But bandwidth costs money...and I ain't got it. :P

Beautiful shots Barry! I too know the limitations and frustrations of the 18-200. You do very well with what you have;)
