Half hour ago I was coming back from Winona Mn on a county road prone to car/deer collisions so I was taking it rather easy. That's when this car came up behind me and stayed close...a bit too close on that road with the deer and all. Hoping the guy would pass me and hit some deer, I kept the Marauder at a steady 50mph.
I looked at his headlights in my mirror several times and could have sworn it was an '89-'97 Thunderbird.
A mile later as I approached I-90 I decided that I'd had enough of this guy. I took the I-90 on-ramp corner so quickly it would have made Mark Donohue proud. I then upholstered the gas pedal and he quickly disappeared into the distance.
My first thoughts were; "Hmm, another Friday night drunk driver. He doesn't want to attract attention to himself or run me".
Around 90 mph I let off the gas pedal and let it ease back down to 75 for the next three miles until to the Bootwash exit.
Just before my exit the car pulled along side me and I looked over. Wouldn't ya know it! A Winona county squad car!
Should I buy a Powerball ticket now or have I used up all my luck?

Like I said, he was real close to me. I did however notice several deer.

Yep, no ticket. Actually I haven't had one since 1993. Go figure!
I can only imagine what the LEO was thinking. He tailed me at 50mph in a 55 zone for 3 miles. Then I made a very aggressive corner and then firewalled it onto the interstate. All this happened at 2:30am on my way home from a college/party town at bar time.
He could have possibly busted me for wreckless driving (the corner) and speeding. It is possible he knew me (or my car) from other dealings with the county though.

Very true. :depress:
A few months ago the Marauder and I almost ended up on Worlds Dumbest Drivers part5.
I'd just stopped at the local Kwik-e-Mart for some smokes when a group of local ricers started asking me about the Marauder.
I told 'em it was "just an old mans car with pimped out wheels...nothing special". I then asked if any of them wanted to run. After looking at my engine they all declined saying that their cars "weren't done yet".
As I pulled away I scratched the tires pretty hard (I'm still stock). Two blocks later I pulled up to the towns only four-way stop. I had so much fun the first time, I did it again.
One block later I had rollers light up behind me. Yep, I peeled out in front of the local cop. For some reason I didn't notice his headlights while he was stopped behind me at a stop sign.
He asked me for my DL and insurance info. I was laughing as I dug through my wallet looking for the stuff. I said to him "I'll bet you just seen the dumbest thing ever".
"Twice" he said.
Oh snap! He'd seen me peel out twice. A minute later he was back at my window and asked if I'd had any other tix for speeding, ect.
"Nope! No tickets since '93."
"Well, you know what to do then".
"Yep!" And I drove home slowly.

Good lord, If that was me, I would have got written up. I used up all my warnings when I was younger it seems. I got a ticket last May for 8 mph over. I have no luck at all.
