What air/fuel gauges have owners been using. Is the wide band the only one to use? Will the OEM O2 sensor support the gauge? What are the prices? They seem to be around $350? Alot of questions, but I am not ready up on air/fuel gauges and they all seem very expensive?

Hey Glenn...

You have to go with the wide band (I got Autometer), don't bother wasting your money on anything else...

Our OEM O'2 sensors are "narrow band" which means it will only tell you if you are above, at, or below stoick (14.7)....The problem is that it will NOT tell you by how much...there is NO actual number displayed...

For blown cars, like ours, we need to see the actual A/F ratio number to keep us informed as to whats happening (A/F ratio) when we nail it...The wide band will do that...It's expensive...but worth every penny...

All the cheap ones are "narrow band"...

Good Luck...

I use the AEM wideband and I love it, best investment to date (other than the headers)

Do I need to replace my OEM O2 sensors to use the wide band? Any good website to purchase the Dynojet or AEM gauges?

Local Boy:

Is this what you have - what is the exact model number. Did you install a separate bung for an AEM sensor included with the gauge?

That's just the display. This is what you'd need http://www.aempower.com/ViewCategory.aspx?CategoryID=6 7 that has the sensor, gauge and bung :D Better prices can be found online I'm sure.

OK, I've got the exact model A/F sensor - Thanks. Now can anyone direct me to a web site that sells the AEM gauge #30-4100 for less then $303.00.

Thanks,

Glenn :burnout:

I'm using Autometer, Glenn...To match all my other gauges

I went through Summit...

You'll get the gauge, sensor, and bung...

It's easy to install, just welding on the bung is a PITA...

I can get you the exact model # if you like...

Good Luck, Brutha...

BTW: Mount your sensor on the driver's side...This is the (driver's) side that runs leaner than the Pass. side...

I looked at the AEM guage closely and I can buy it for $270.00 on AEM's website with a 10% discount coupon. But, one thing I noticed is that the Autometer gauge offers a very nice feature that I do not believe AEM offers. The Autometer offers a max lean recall reading and a lean alarm. I find these features an absolute requirement, but cannot determine if AEM offers these same features. Can you help me?

There is no alarm on my AEM... I dunno if I could stand having it go off when I get off the throttle on the freeway

have a new bung installed after your cats and which ever side you prefer...Lidio told me that a WB O2 should always be installed before the cats...and on the driver's side, although I didn't ask him why.

ya that's my mistake, I meant before. It's because when the exhaust passes through the cats the A/F reading is thrown off a bit... thats how it was explained to me anyway

That's the beauty of the Autometer, Glenn...You have peak lean recall at WOT with a trigger switch (not included in the kit), or you just ground the brown wire and have peak lean recall throughout the entire RPM range + you can engage the alarm, and the lights blink when it hits the point you designate...

Gotta Love it!!!

I'm not familiar with the AEM hit, so I cannot comment on that one...

BTW: I installed a trigger switch for peak lean recall at WOT...Need a pic?

Can you explain in more detail the recall and alarm features of the Autometer gauge and any pictures of the trigger switch and how it works.

Thanks,

Glenn
