how did you brighten up the photo so much?

I extended the shutter length a little, I could have gone more, but I see you brightened it up alot, is that photoshop?

Hey John, nice edit. Can you clone out the lamppost coming out of the roof? If not maybe recrop to get rid of the light portion of it.

Is the horizon perfectly level? I have only had one cup of coffee and it looks a hair off.

It's a matter of making a few adjustments to the shadows and the highlights. Then, I gave the contrast a slight boost with some low levels of sharpening.

I'm not certain how you are using your camera's metering, but most likely it saw all of that bright hazy sky and exposed for that. It's pretty difficult to get everything in a shot that includes bright sky to be perfect. I have the same issues with my DSLR. :)

There is a lot of detail in the windows of the building behind that lamp post. I guess I'm too much of a perfectionist, because I finally gave up and went to bed.

Cropping out the light at the top is simple to do. Even then, you still have a bare post, and that doesn't look quite right either.

We may have to do the same thing here that is done in the other photo forums, where the original poster has an option to allow photo editing to their pics. I don't like removing or altering stuff from other people's work without their permission. Most people really don't mind, but some may take offense to that.

So, do we need a critique section now? :)

I dont care, photoshop away.Ok, then here ya go. My favorite, minus the light post. It's kind of hard doing this on a web sized file, it's not perfect, but I think it looks a little better.

looks pretty darn real to meI'm still seeing several flaws. When you have a web sized file, you can't get down to the actual pixel level to clean it up. It's like trying to copy and paste with a tree branch. . . . :)

I was wondering the same.
The longer exposure will not neccesarily brighten things.

I am thinking you need to work on the white balance settings in conjunction with ISO.

A grey card may be in your future.
