Spark Plug Torque - Ford Escape

I'm going to change spark plugs on my daughter's Ford Escape this weekend. It has the 3.0 DOHC V6 and I believe it has aluminum heads, so I assume the spark plug torque would be the same as my Marauder at 10-12 ft/lbs? Can someone double check for me? Also, what the gap should be?

Have you bought the spark plugs yet? If not the auto parts store will know which are the right ones for your vehicle. I would only guess it would be around the same tq for them. Just remember a dab anti-seize on the plug threads and some de-electric grease on the tip connecting to the plug wire or coil plug.

Ditto, except buy OEM Motorcraft spark plugs. Also make sure to used compressed air to blow away any dirt, or sand so it does not make its way down into the cylinder.

Already bought Motorcraft plugs. I'm going with the same torque as my Marauder, about 12 ft/lbs. I think the gap will be on an emissions sticker somewhere under the hood. We bought the Escape about a month ago with 104,000 on the clock. If they have never been changed, I hope the plugs come out without too much trouble. I think I'll remove one just to see what they look like. Thanks for the tips. Curt

Ford platinum plugs should come pre-gapped, I always thought that if you try to put a feeler gauger to measure the gap it would harm the platinum.

Plugs came out just fine. I think they were the original plugs. Had to remove the upper instake to get at the back 3 plugs.
