After JUST getting my chip & 4.10's installed yesterday, my new headers have arrived via UPS (at 8pm!) They look fantastic but don't appear to be a real full length header. They actually look more like a mid-length.

They're nice and shiny, have the stock hookups for the front O2 sensors in the collectors, and the driver side header has the fitting for (insert name of part that goes there).

Looks like I'll be able to place the rear O2's in about their stock location instead of moving them farther back. Just in case something goes wrong with that, who knows where I can find O2 wire extensions OR good MIL eliminators that will work with our MM's???

Try Dallas Mustang www.dallasmustang.com Search for "OXYGEN SENSOR,EXTENSION HARNESS" and "MIL ELIMINATOR." I've only seen extensions used the front O2s. So, I don't know whether these would work on the rears. Plus, these are for Mustangs (all I really know about). But, I imagine the sensors would be the same for MMs. There are plenty of other companies that sell them if you don't like these prices.

Someone had mentioned to me that the MIL Eliminators work great on older motors. They said that the late-model ECU's and computers eventually re-learn what's going on and will throw codes anyway. Any truth??

No, I've been running them for several 1000 miles without problems. I don't know if you know why they are necessary. I'll explain anyway in case you don't. You only need them if you remove the catalysts. The rear O2s are only used to monitor emmisions. When you remove the cats, the rear O2s go haywire and trip the MIL. So, the MIL eliminators are only intended for the rear O2s. Judging from some skematics I saw for them, there is a resistor in series and a capacitor in parallel with the O2. The resistor drops the signal voltage and the capacitor smooths it out. The signal is massaged and the computer never knows the cats are gone.

I just noticed you will be running Dynomax cats. So, you won't need the MILs unless these cats are not efficient enough. Also, at least for Mustangs, I think Kooks includes extensions for the front O2s. If you didn't get them, you may not need them. You may want to contact Kooks to see if you need them.

The name of the part you mentioned is probably the boss for the EGR tube.

Constable... You're right, they're not full length, they're mid-length headers...

I received their X Pipe today, which is a work of art, just waiting on the headers, which should be here tomorrow or Monday, just in time to get the exhaust redone in time for Ennis... :)

weeeeeeeeeeee!

I figured that if I was going from 4 restrictive cats to 2 high-flow units, then the computer might start flashing dummy lights at me. I just want to get all these questions out of the way now so that I can get the exhaust together quickly when the time comes... which is now, actually.

Logan, the x-pipe does look real nice. I can't wait to hear it when I'm done. Are you still planning on doing the "detailed install" or are you gonna have to rush to get everything done for Ennis?

Yes, I'll be doing the detailed install and pre/post dyno runs.

...and I'm still hoping to be done in time for Ennis... :) If all goes well, I'll do the pre-dyno Tuesday afternoon, install Wednesday, post dyno thursday morning, Ennis setup Thursday evening...

Well... someone has a lot of free time on their hands, huh??

Not really, just craploads of vacation time... Last time I checked, I think I have over 120 days of vacation built up... I don't think they'll mind if I take a day or 20... :)
