Question for the collective: Which is better for drag racing launching - old 65,000 mile OEM rear shocks or brand new Ford rear shocks. I get mixed information on this question.

Neither. Get some QA1 adjustables set very stiff.

Would double adjustable be better and set the comp real soft and the rebound real stiff? Or am I over thinking this?

You want the rears stiff and the front loosy-loose.

I am on a budget and cannot afford QA1s and really don't believe they are that good. I driven in several of them.

John:

So you are saying go with the new OEM rear shocks for SSHS8 to help my launch rather then leave the old ones in??

Then the answer is, that depends. If the old shocks have gone mushy, then replace them. If they have frozen up, keep them; for racing, anyway...

John:

Hate to be a PIA, but the rear is almost rock solid after 65,000 miles with no real give. I also have the HD anti-sway bar on the rear with the Metco watts linkage and Metco control arms. Any change in replacing the rear shocks?

You are gong to SSHS8??

Thanks,

Glenn

If your rear shocks are frozen, then replace them -after- sshs8.

And yes, I am going to try to make it. I'll even give you a 1 second head start this year.

LOL
