May I ask your 1/4 mile ET's and your 60 foot times.

My car is running slow (13.70, 2.2 60 foot) and I would like to know what a reasonable expectation would be?

What other mods do you have?

rwhp?

I have a Novi 2000 do I count?

Seriously though, I think for anyone to give you good insight you should provide at least your MPH in the 1/4 and rwhp, also what tires you're on, maybe even our launch style. Converter stall wouldn't be bad info either... :D

Quite right, I forgot my signature doesn't show.

Mods are: NOVI NOIC S/C 10 lb boost. 50 shot wet nitrous, set to fire @ 4K.
4:10 gears, PI-3500 stall converter, DR tune. OEM tires, almost new, set to 28 lbs rear and 45 lbs front. Launch at off idle after small burn out.

After a review of my tune file this week DR has sent me a revised tranny/converter schedule. I'll be installing that this week.
Then on to the track for test and tune.

Pat, I have 2.20 60' times with my NA mostly stock Marauder. Your 60' times should be lower. Are you getting lots of wheel spin?

You should really try pre-loading the torque converter and then roll out from the launch. Even with have the 3500 stall and 4.10 gears you should be getting a better 60 ft time.

Are you running on an email tune or a dyno tune? If you haven't gotten a dyno tune you should really get one but yeah something is definitely not right especially if I'm running 13.72 with a 2.005 60ft being NA and 3.55 gears lol

Pat between you and ctrlraven I'm really re thinking the whole SC option. Please keep us informed.

as a side note I wonder if your nitrous is doing something it shouldn't, restricting something....

If you have Boost, ANY Boost, you need to have a CUSTOM DYNO TUNE. A Mailbox Tune WILL NOT cut it!

I guess I don't really know the CFM of that blower, but with 10psi and a 50shot of N2O even with a 2.2 60ft seems like you should do better than a 13.7.... That aside you are on the stock tires which is gonna be a challenge, I'd certainly say load the converter to 2K or so, then go into it 1/2 throttle on the launch then ease into it... maybe save WOT for second gear... that's what works for me on street tires so far :)

Why would you attempt to run a Blower car on stock tires and expect a good time slip?

:dunno:

It's got to be the tune.

I would bet money his shift points were set at around 5000 rpm's

Take into consideration the fastest marauder to leave that shop in 6 years ran 11.51.

I want to thank all of you for your concern, suggestions and questions.

Yes, Mike it does concern me because I plunked down over 5K to go faster only to find that I go slower.

My tires and launching technique, while variable at times, is not the cause of the problem. I was running a 100 shot nitrous, a traction controller, and I hooked up real good. I was in the low 13's.

With this S/C set up I don't even burn a little rubber, embarrassing.

The car is running a dyno tune, see charts on DR's website-update Novi NOIC. 400+ RWHP, 400+ ft lbs of torque.

I have received a new tranny tune file from DR yesterday and am scheduled to go to my local SCT dealer where he will install it on Friday. Then drive 60 miles to the drag strip and hopefully report back that I'm in the 12's.

He has a point there

400+hp and 400+ft/lbs... something is certainly wrong, the 60' is one thing, but the MPH is way off if you're making that kind of power plus a 50shot... I "do my own tuning" very poorly I might add, and even with my terrible trans tuning ability (hitting limiters and not turning off the torque reductions on shift) I still managed a 12.8 @ 109 with similar power... I'd find a place with a dyno and an A/F meter strap your car on and see what's up...

PS I have a slip from that same night with a 13.6 @ 108.. when I thought I would just stab the gas...the reason I point this out is even if you are messing up on the launch real bad short of shift commin way too early, power being pulled back, or you lifting off the throttle, your MPH is quite troubling.

Regards,

Pat, probably a foolish question but:

Is their any chance one of the intake hoses on the pressure side could be 1) loose 2) split 3) cracked
so that only under boost the air is blowing out rather than going into the manifold under full force? Or:
the hose ahead of the blower is crimping under boost?

It just sounds like the S/C is not getting the boost to the engine.

But then, what the Hell do I know?

Good luck buddy, I'm sure you'll whip it.
