For those of you who have a problem with the wipers turning or staying on here is a solution that is as easy as can be. Simply unplug the power to the wipers. Pop the hood open and you'll see a cable clicked to another by what looks like a black box. This is located on the drivers side of the firewall. When you are not using the wipers unhook them and you don't have to worry.

Sounds like trouble, but I have been doing this for 3 months and it seems to be resetting itself. When I need the wipers I hook them back up and when done driving the car I leave them hooked up. When hooked up from the last use of the car, they do not turn on at random. I think this is a computer error or something because if you unplug it, leave it and plug it in again it's as fine as it was from the factory.

Try it right now.

That is pretty bad to have to unplug wipers on a "luxury" car, like it's some old 30 year old car w/ bad wiring. What is happening is that during the time you have the wipers unplugged, the water that is shorting the wiper circuit is drying out. If you cleared the drain you wouldn't have to keep doing it.

Mine was this way too. Take care of the problem and you won't have to keep messing with it

I bought new aftermarket motor from AutoZone, replaced it and got some control of my wipers back. After seeing a thread on here about cleaning the wiper motor control module on the wiper motor I took the aftermarket one and put it on the Ford wiper motor and problem fixed.

Dom you should REALLY take your cowl area apart and clean it. The new aftermarket unit was $80.

Your idea will only work until the motor ruins further. My brother's MM had the same problem and he used to pull the fuse until he lost control of the speed function.

We replaced the motor which cost about $75 from Ford. The hardest part is removing the wiper arms. There must be a trick to doing it that I just didn't figure out.

I have the same problem. I pull the fuse. When I put it back after awhile it works fine. One of these days I'll give it the real fix, but I just haven't had time.

Stop being lazy, it takes all of an hour to do the above.. Check the link.

Why it isnt a sticky by now, I dont know.. 3 weeks and it still works like new.

F pulling fuses
F disconnecting harnesses
F opening the hood to bother to do anything but fix the problem.
