wheather your buying, selling, trading, or keeping the price of the marauder has gone down for a couple of reasons,

1- It is almost 2009 people,. The cars still look new, but really they are 5+ yrs old, there is nothing we can do about it.

Some a-hole who writes the NADA book or whatever says it goes down in value, even if it sits in the garage and get no miles.

2- Some people are really hurt financially, they cant affort the gas, or the payments, whatever it is they are selling, and they want it gone so they sell for cheap. Thus making the market price of an MM cheaper (bastards)

Let me tell you a story- about 3yrs ago I was helping a buddy look for an Impalla SS (94-96) Being in the middle of iowa its not like every chevy dealer has one.

I found probably 7 different one for him, they turned out to be complete piles of junk for $5k, or and average condition 75k-110k mile for about $15k, or a real nice gem with 50k-80k miles was about $21k

They have already been through this, thier cars got old, price went down, some turned to junk. Some were well cared for, loved, and years later when the owners finally decided to part with them, they CAN ask a premium for them. Now IF you go and try to find one, in good condition without a ton of miles, you gotta pay to get it, they dont care if they dont sell to YOU, they will keep it longer untill someone else comes along with a wad of cash that will change thier mind.

I say keep your MM. Enjoy it. Down the road when someone comes along with a wad of cash that wants a great condition MM it will be worth $20k + or more maybe.

This is all my opinion, if you dont agree.... I dont care, I just wanted to vent my idea on the value of an MM.

Im paying mine off, then getting a trilogy, and keeping it.

Just remember, the $20k in five years will be the equivalent of $10k today.

Actually 10,000 today will only be 11,592.74 in five years. We still stand a chance.

There is a pristine 96 black Impala SS near me that has been garaged since the day the guy got it - very few miles. He wanted 17K for it a few years ago - I know he still has it and I've seen it recently.

I'm going to take advantage of the "bad" economy and buy as many cheap Marauders as I can...

I had a recent road trip to little rock, with a tank of 93 fuel, went 410 miles on 15 gallons of gas. what a gas hog... LOL yeah I'll keep my gas hog...

27 MPG???

You must be using the tornado or something. LOL.

I will say that on 99% my long (highway only) trips I average 23-24+ mpg and that's with the Marauder PACKED!

it never did that well before, (typically 24-25) but I never had 93 in it before either. four adults and our stuff in the trunk. I'm going to try 93 on my normal commute to see if the additional cost and distance to the station is worth it.

well in 5 yrs how many marauder will be left, after the accidents and ghetto-izing.

then what are they worth?

I have gotten 27.5mpg on flat land with Hess. Car loves Hess for MPG and Sunoco 93 for power. Normal highway MPG is 23.5 on Sunoco.

5 passengers not a stich of space from all the luggage AC on the whole way and at highway speed 95% of the time I still averaged 24.89 MPG. I'm happy with my Marauder. With 3 in my 04 Subaru Legacy I would be lucky to get 23 MPG highway.

i dont follow that KBB or NADA crap. i understand that it is a guide, but here's a great example. when i was purchasing my 92 GT vert, i was able to find one that was immaculate. the guy wanted $6k. KBB was about $4k. ended up getting it for $5k.

not even a 1.5 months later i end up getting an offer for $8k! i really wish i kept the car, but i wanted the extra money. i couldnt pass up the extra $3k at the time.

here is a pic of the said car
http://i433.photobucket.com/albums/qq53/ebxgsxr/GTdriver.jpg

but i understand what your saying. but you figure later down the road there will still be an enthusiast that still wants your car. finding a "gem" in the sea of ghetto damaged or wrecks will make your car that much more desirable.

Although I am a FIRM disbeliever of the saying "a car is worth what you think its worth" and "a car is worth what you want to pay for it", when it comes to Marauders and even the Impala SS (94-96) we as owners are in the drivers seat. These cars are rare and everytime I take the dam thing out I get a comment on how bad ass it is or someones always staring. These cars are the ONLY cars on the planet earth that I would pay a higher price for than what KBB or NADA may say. Anything else you can kiss my a$$ if you think Im even paying close to what KBB or anyone else says.

Yes mine is listed here for sale but the honest truth is I could care less if I sell it or not. The house I was aiming for is gone so now as soon as I find another Marauder either I'll trade it in or sell it to the first lucky buyer.

Got my best mileage ever 2 weeks ago when I drove to Vegas. Used 11.3 gallons on 274 miles, average of 24.25 MPG.

Just my 0.02, but who cares what the book values are? I bought mine to drive and to keep. I guess the low values make them more likely to be totaled if they get in an accident. To guard against that, look for a stated value policy.

The only thing about the low book values that I care at all about, is that I am tempted to buy my son one.

If you bought an MM as an investment, then I feel sad for you. Panther values just don't hold up. I really like them, but never planned to get any money out of one after I wore it out. I sunk a lot into this MM and plan to enjoy it for as many years as they let me keep my license...

Not trying to start a flaming, just my opinion.

want to adopt me? lol

i hear you. funny thing is, i asked a similar question on the CV forums. since i had an LX sport & they technically stopped making them in 2007, i was wondering if it may be worth hanging onto especially since mine has somewhat low mileage. things the guys there pointed out are that in later years most "collectible cars" are usually coupes. someone said that if a panther would be worth anything it would be the MM, and that would usually be a specific enthusiast looking for it. they pointed out cars like the mustang, vette, supra, viper, etc are the cars that may be worth something in later years.

That's a good investment, I think the Trilogy cars will be very valuable in the future. because it will always be an extremely rare car.

And the marauder is probably the last American full-size body-on-frame "muscelcar". It will never be a car like this built again, times are changing.

What is "Ghetto-izing"? Once you by a car, it is yours. Do not get upset because black people are altering the Marauders..... If you don't like it then buy all the Marauders that are for sell...........

Lower prices are bringing undesirables to the fold and some of the mods make me wish they had never found a Marauder!!:argue::mad2::shake:

I'm still keeping mine......fix it if it breaks and keep going.....Target 1,000,000 miles!!!:D

You are right of course, on the interest tables. I was making a big assumption on the inflation of the currency to pay for all of our new federal welfare programs on the immediate horizon. You could also be right if the economy really tanks & we get deflation (and no spending programs). Where's Jimmy Carter these days.

One thing you all need to remember is that Mercury never have the icon weight of other brands...(SS for example) so tha tdoes factor into it.

In real life this is the last real muscel car Detroit will turn out.

Mustangs and such are "pony" cars.

Talking about (99% of) cars as being financial investments is foolishness. True investments appreciate, and most cars never really do. Insurance, financing, storage costs, maintenance, repairs, and replacement of tires, batteries, and other items that deteriorate, all kill the bottom line.

I was just approached today by another black man that wanted to buy my MM. Probably the 6th time it has happened to me. Not one white person has asked to buy it. Does this mean that for some reason, an MM has appeal in the Black sub-culture?
