As many of us have already found out, most brands of replacement fuel filters (including Motorcraft), do not come with clips, or come with clips for a different application that won't fit the Marauder fuel line connectors. Many times you can re-use the original clips if you knew to be careful when removing them, but if one broke you either had to modify one of the supplied incorrect clips, or go to the dealer and pay their ludicrous price ($7.00 ... EACH  ). Well, NAPA now has a better answer :D Just ask for part number NCK11 and they will sell you a bag of 10 of the correct clips for...wait for it... $8.49.
If you don't have access to a NAPA store, any place that sells WIX filters can get the same thing under part number WCK11.

Fuel line quickconnect release tool is about $1.99 IIRC

That is not a bad price for a 10 pack of clips. This sure beats what Ford charges nowadays.

Thanks. I'll be picking up a bag this week, for all 3 of my Panthers.

Thanks for the info! One of my clips certainly will not survive the next filter change, and I've been wondering what I was going to do.

You don't need a special tool to remove the fuel filter clips... just a small screwdriver.
I posted this 5 years ago.

They come individually bagged for around $10 cdn a piece:mad: from Ford back in April when I broke both of mine. Refused to buy and drove around for about a week without any clips. Went to a friends shop and he had a bunch of them. He couldn't remember were they were from, (most likely they were from NAPA), and installed for free:banana: Thanks for finding this out. Going to get a bag soon.

I have still broken clips using a screwdriver. Maybe I'm just a klutz, but I always do better when I have the right tools for the job.
I have a feeling many people have no clue as to how those clips actually work.
You push up on the clip, not pull.

WOW, that's just what the instructions say......
Mine came off without any issues. I hadn't touched it for 77,000 miles and mine is a daily driver (winter and all).

My dealer has a drawer full of them and gave me a dozen last Spring!!

Right. I've said this a number of times as well. They are called push release clips! See here (https://www.mymarauder.com/wiki/index.php?title=Fuel_Filter).

They are instructions if you read and follow
DEstructions if you skip the reading part.

Guilty as charged. I admit, I didn't know they pushed up to release. Thanks for setting me straight, guys.

It's that extra wrapping they put in packages, with letters and words...and pictures on it.

I have changed the fuel filter on my 58K mile Marauder 4 times already and once on my brother's Marauder and still never broke a tab.
The reason? I was really gentle after reading the posts here. Also, I must admit that I never really understood how these pins work. I always just pulled up slowly and carefully.
I will get a pack from Napa in the AM (just in case since you found them so cheap) and follow the advice I just learned from Red's post when I do it again next April.
Thanks for sharing the know-how.

I know its not the recommended thing to do, and you get that 'scary feeling', but I needed to get around. I did check for leaks all the time before and after each trip (with engine running + in park). Not a drop of leakage and the hoses stayed in place.

Any auto parts store will have them, advance and AZ will. They will either be out on the floor (Dorman/Motormite part) or may be behind the counter. If it's a dorman/motormite part it will probably be around $4 for however many they give you in the box (3-5). Napa is probably cheaper for the 10 pk but the local guys out here at the Napa are not the brightest (which is surprising because usually Napa is better staffed than the chain discount places but not out here!!! Must be something in the water). I have used and lost more packs of these things than I care to mention
