Has anyone out there installed heated seats on their own? Just wondering what was used as a power source for them. Each is to handle 10Amps minimum.

I upgraded to OEM style heated seats. Major pain. I connected to power at the same places where the factory wiring connects, but it took a good bit of re-wiring.

I'm thinking of doing the rear seats.
Run power from the power connector at the engine relay/fuse box. Make sure you have sufficient gauge wire and fuse(s) / breaker(s).

I liked them so much on the Marauder, when I got the GMQ LSE, I went with aftermarket heated seats.
They have high and low settings
They are hotter than the factory warmers on high.
The switch is not on the door, it's in the edge of the seat next to the lumbar button.
Not the OEM style that I'd like to keep, but the switches are very small.
I was not looking to replace door panels and rewiring.
They came with a three year warranty, for about 450 for both front seats.
The Marauder would be worth doing as Brian did, keeping the factory look.

I really want to do this myself. The "self accomplishment" thing.
Now, coming from the fuse block under the hood is a good suggestion, but where in the box?
I DO have the mechanical ablility to do this job (like everyone else on this site), I just haven't before.

Connect to power from one of the unused fuses in the fuse box. Maybe the one that is normally connectd to heated seats on the cars that are factory equipped with them. I believe the OEM one is unswitched, but you can route it through one of the unused relays in the fuse box if you need switched power. Just need some of the connector pins from a donor fuse box. I have one at home, just need to know which size pins you need and I can get you some short pigtails (about a foot long) with the pins.

I've wanted to put seat heaters in the Marauder and my Odyssey daily driver but don't know anyone who's actually used the aftermarket kits and can recommend them.
I've been gun shy on the Marauder because I don't want to take away from the car by NOT using factory parts. Although, I have several mods so I guess that defeats the whole idea huh?

FordNut your explaination makes sense; but I am still abit confused. If the factory didn't install the heating wire-harness in the car, should there be power at that fuse spot located under the hood? If power is there, where would it be going to from there? Can I use just one power source for both the front seats? The harness with the seat elements (the new ones) comes with an inline fuse. Do I need the fuse box under the hood?
I really need help here guys! Please! :bows:

Fordnut, you mentioned that you have a donor box? I did read you old trhead on the install you did...that sounded like a pain in the butt.

Look at the owner's manual. I believe there is a fuse designation. The wires are not there though. You can just put a ring terminal on the screw that connects to the fuse box if you want to, but I think it's a neater installation if you connect to the bottom side of the fuse box.

2004. The owners manual mentions a "seat heating module" in the block under the hood, and a fuse (under the dash) for the switches. That one is also on with many other things. I don't know if the "seat heating module" is just meaning the wiring is thick enough or what (seeing as the moduale isn't there of course). What's with fusing the switches?

If the wires aren't there, am I not still searching for switched power from somewhere anyway? Back to square one?
