Your next mod will be converting to a blow-thru maf to eliminate all that ugly piping.
It will cost you less to do that than to have those pipes powdercoated.

The piping was made incorrect and we had to dremel the blow thru maf port out. (Dennis welded it shut since we did not want it.) Unfortunately, bypass location was incorrect so we had to change to blow thru....
...We have a powder-coater so bottom line is blow thru and powder coat only cost us time....
This is the blow-Thru... its ugly as hell now... as I said we had to careful dremel it out....

Hey Zack do you have a good program for the SCT3 we can run for now...
60lbs inj, 90MM maf, diablo mafiaex set to zero, dual GT fuel pump & mod'D FPDM, AN 8 fuel line, 5.0L cnc ported fox lake heads, Vortec T-trim 16-18lbs, Full 3" SW exahust w/ headers, 3200 or 3500 stall conv, and all the rest of the origninal mods you did...
Just waiting on Dennis to give me a time & place for a Jerry W dyno tune...

You know, that's EXACTLY what I was thinking as I looked at those pics...

Where does the intercooler reside....in the red box??

Blow thru or suck thru?
Im a little unclear as to what you are actually doing.

Yes, that's a Vortech water-to-air unit.

According to SCT (unless they don't know what they're talking about), a draw through MAF set up will support more RWHP than blow through.
What are the advantage/disadvantages of doing blow through?

If you say so. Maybe with their BIG AIR products. But I've seen blow thru support nearly 500 RWHP and not come close to pegging. Plus, to connect the blow-thru MAF, you need a MAFia set to 0, so there's no where to go but UP!
The advantages are:
Instant boost - no delay while the fuel commanded by the PCM (rich condition) waits for the air metered by the MAF (stoich) to 'catch-up'.
No-reheating of pipe and recircing heated air = lower IAT's - for me an average of about 30-45 degrees - no BS.
Less likelyhood of MAF getting oily or wet by being so close to filter.
Less likely to peg
MAF closer to IAT, physically
No recirc reversing airflow through MAF - big problem on high boost dropping recirc close to MAF.
Cleaner look - less pipes - less crap to go wrong.
The ONLY disadvantage I have found is that my MAFia fell off it's mount and sat down by the compressor and got wet in recent rains and sent a BS signal to the PCM. I found it, dried it, and re-mounted it. Done.

So you're saying that the SCT BIG AIR products are junk?
What is the best MAF out there?
Are all MAFs capable of doing draw and blow through?
Can the MAFia be used with a draw through?
When I had my D1SC with draw through set up, my IAT temps were usually about 4-5 degrees over ambient temps. So with the blow through set up, the IAT temps can be as much as 45 degrees below the ambient temps?
I don't see how with the MAFia falling off its mount is a disadvantage.
I still have this question:
Comparing apple to apple, two same exact set up with no MAFia, one is draw through the other is blow through.
Which set up would make the most RWHP and which one would have a higher MAF counts?
So you're saying that the SCT BIG AIR products are junk? They are not junk, they work well
What is the best MAF out there? The PMAS HPX MAF is the most popular maf in use today with high horsepower cars.
Are all MAFs capable of doing draw and blow through? Yes
Can the MAFia be used with a draw through? Yes
When I had my D1SC with draw through set up, my IAT temps were usually about 4-5 degrees over ambient temps. What gauge did you use to measure IAT's? If you use a Scangauge, your #'s are surely not accurate because the refresh rate is not fast enough. 4-5 above ambient while cruising is entirely possible, but at WOT, it will go up at least 20-30 degreesSo with the blow through set up, the IAT temps can be as much as 45 degrees below the ambient temps? No. Unless you have a refrigerated intercooling system, the IAT's will never fall below ambient. A blow thru simply dumps the blowoff to athmosphere, rather than recirculate it back into the blower where it is ultimately reheated.
I don't see how with the MAFia falling off its mount is a disadvantage.
I still have this question:
Comparing apple to apple, two same exact set up with no MAFia, one is draw through the other is blow through.
Which set up would make the most RWHP and which one would have a higher MAF counts? The blow thru will make a little more power since the IAT's will always be lower. As for MAF counts, the PMAS meter will have lower counts because it is calibrated for high horsepower right out of the box.
Hope this helped

No just the opposite. They're good, just expensive.
No - not below ambient. My IAT's were high.
The MAFia falling wasn't a REAL disadvantage, but has been the only trouble I've had.
It's not about RWHP at all. It's about driveability and SOTP good times!!! My draw thru and blowthru setups were within 5 RWHP of each other, but the blowthru is FAR more predicatable and fun to drive!

I had planned to stay Pull-thru but seem to have ended up Blow-thru....
I didn't want the diablo mafia but... Dennis is supposed to make a connector to eliminate the mafia... if its not required i will eliminate it... ut I need a dyno tune and hope to get a decent tune in meantime...
Zack is there anything else you need to know about the setup....? blow-thru...

We are measuring significant temp drops with the new radiator and Lightning water pump. The Vortech intercooler, the red box, is slightly under sized for the full cfm of the T trim supercharger @ 16# of boost. However, we kept the vortech water storage container in the system. That will give us some ride through capacity for any sudden need for full boost.
This has been a true engineering effort between Dennis, Gary Jr., Zack, Phil from GTA, and me, Gary Sr. It is not yet a finished product but very close.
I road raced with a factory Ford team years ago. I have never drag raced. If I can get a better tune, my 31 spline axels and true trac rear installed I may drive to "Jersey" to be with the other Marauders at Englishtown.

We had a belt shread on us and had to replace the belt and space the vortec out form the engine 1 washer wigth to prevent the rib to hop again... It appears to be running fine now...
...but I could still use a better computer tune.

Sorry to drag this up from the depths... but i didn't want to retype/redo all this... Thus...
We have completed the dyno tuning. I will start a new thread soon with pictures, dyno graph etc.
...but the numbers came out to be 617rwhp & 588rwtq.
We ran out of fuel at the top end (abv 5200rpm or so)
Thus, I just got in the new Triple Pump Fuel Tank Manifold System (fuel hat) & wiring upgrade w/ a 2nd FPDM. more or less what the link below is:

Here is a link to my Photobucket. It has the fuel hat etc pix: (sorry some other pix accidently also got copied into the folder) I will remove the unsorted ones soon)
http://s120.photobucket.com/albums/o191/Loco4321/Marauder%20Fuet%20Hat%20etc/
I t looks really nice & should eliminate the fuel loss due to a single FPDM running 2 GT fuel pumps & the small fuel line size leaving the fuel tank.
We expect after the install & the final 93 octane fuel Tune to get approx: 650rwhp & 600rwtq
Is that a fuel hat for a MARAUDER?
