I thought I would fill you guys in on another compliment on my, well our, cars.....

Yesterday I had some minor running around to do for the local elections, so I decided instead of taking the wife's car I'll take out the Marauder (It was around 70 degrees here in Chicago, beautiful day).

At one point I had to go meet a complete stranger to pick up some paperwork. Long story short, the gentlemen who set up the meeting for me said to the man I was meeting " He will be driving a black Mercury Marauder".

I found the guys I was to meet, pulled over, asked me my name then said:

"I was told you would be driving a Marauder, but I had no idea what one looked like"

I said well this is a Marauder

"Mercury makes that car?"

They did for a few years, but there now discontinued

He replied, "Im not much of a car guy, but that by far is the BADDEST M*****F******G car Ive ever seen!"

He said it with such joy in his voice you knew it was true.

After briefly explaining the details of the car and production numbers, I pulled away with a grin on my face and now 4 guys I've never met drooling in the street.

AHH...........

It is a good feeling when people ask WTF and it ends with a compliment. I only got one negative comment about the car. I was getting out of mine at a Lowes and some old lady walked up and asked me rather rudely "Why do people fix up old cop cars?" I said "How the hell should I know, ask somebody who has one.", and I walked away. Car was barely 2 years old at the time and mint!

Oh, they get NOTICED alright. :D

On the morning of the recent CAM Gettysburg meet, I stopped by the gas station to check the air pressure in my tires. A guy who was there using the vacuum on his interior walked over and just stared at the car from about 20 feet away. When I came around that side of the car, he asked whether I had it repainted 'cause he had only ever seen Black MMs. When I told him that Mercury also made a "handful" of SB, DTR and DBP, he just smiled and said "That car is absolutely beautiful". We chatted awhile about MMs and I thanked him for the compliment .... then headed up the road to Gettysburg. When I got back in the car, my wife just smiled 'cause she knows it IS a special car.

So true. I smile everytime I see yet another Charger/300 on 20's with a chrome grille. How unique.

No doubt the Marauders turn heads. At a restaraunt, I had some girl come over with her bf as I was parking. She knew exactly what the Marauder was and wanter her pic with the Beast.

She knew exactly what the Marauder was and wanter her pic with the Beast. nice.

I make bets with the young local ricers that this fat old guy can pull their girlfriend. We BS and trade slams, then walk outside. Works every time!!!

With the paint, wheels and especially, the blow-through venting to atmosphere LOUDLY, I get looks and comments EVERYWHERE even when it's filthy.

When ever a girl rides in the car she's always amazed at all the heads that turn.

Last night I went roller skating with my kid. I was rink rat and jam skater back in the day. Met some young folks carrying on the jams. They were a gracious bunch to my shaky old self. We BS'ed outside a while, then I got in and started up. One of the younger ones (19?) started miming 'pleasuring himself' when he heard the startup!!! One of the kids said he'd race me for slips if I put a 2x4 under the pedal! I said I'd probly still take his car... and his girlfriend!

Dude! It's not nice to tease the handicapped kidz. They only got half a engine.....

Also didn't know you were a fellow rink rat. We gotta have you guys over some weekend and go skating and tease ricers. :)

ahh. i have had a few of the... WTF is it? stories.... but mine mostly came when i had 3% tint on the MM.... couldnt tell a difference between the paint and windows...

although recently driving downtown i had a guy yell from the sidewalk wheni was at the red light,

" hey is that a f***ing Mercury Marauder!?!"

"yeah"

"Holy christ! they didnt make hardly any of those! ive never even seen one before!"

"yup gotta love them"

he proceeds to walk into the middle of the road and stand on the yellow line and BS with me till my light turns green....

(in almost any downtown setting in MA, the buildings are brick and tall... lots of echo.)

my car billows throughout the center of town and i take off :burnout:

My girlfriend calls mine "the FBI car" every time we take it out.

One of the guys I work with apparently didn't know I owned the car, how I have no idea as it's been up here many times in the last year. He asked me today who's cop car I drove in today.
