It was great to meet all of you and have you here for the Shootout. We appreciate your support and plan on (with your help) making this an even better event next year. This will become the Premier big car racing event in the country. The camaraderie at this event continues to be outstanding, with the Ford/Lincoln/Mopar and Chevrolet folks. Have a safe trip home (btw, I am already home)

New personal best for me. I didn't plan to run due to tranny issues, but did make one time trial pass. Didn't empty the trunk (floor jack, tool kit, organizer, cleaning supples, spare tire, jack, etc), 295/45-18 Nitto street tires , 38 psi tire pressure, street tune, did the burnout and staged. Lit up the tires at the tree, let out and got back in it. It hooked and pulled like a freight train, pinned me to the seat for the entire run. 11.64 @ 124, weighed in at 4970 lb.

Thanks Steve, Brian and everyone else for all their hard work efforts in making SSHS8 a great success. I'm looking forward to SSHS9.

Great job to Tom for an awesome 10.4 run as well as John's 11.7. Mike had his beautiful Mark VIII at the event and ran a 11.75 with his new Vertec blower. Unbelievable run Brian at nearly 5,000# for a 11.6. I would say you have a 10 second car when you empty that trunk and get a good set of DRs on it.

I ran my personal best @ 11.92, but not as fast as I was hoping. Ran in "C" class brackets and lost in the 3rd round to LeadSSled Terry due to my slower reaction time even though I was closer to my dial-in then Terry was, but that's bracket racing.

What a great day :) Thanks to all the sponsors, volunteers, participants, spectators, Gassit, and Atlanta Dragway! Every year, this event keeps getting better.

The Mark had a decent new motor debut winning the Class D Injected Engineering Sponsored Runner-Up Trophy, and joining the 11 second club with a 11.751 @ 120.80 run during SSHS8! :)

Congratulations again to Dirty Old Man - Dave for winning the Atlanta Marks Grudge Match Trophy!

Here is a video of The Mark's introduction into the 11 second club. Enjoy!

Great day, another excellent time with some excellent folks.

"Post race" dinner and drinks at the Outback (and beyond) was fun, too.

BTW, found out Rich (magindat) is an aspiring writer. Has already started on his first book. Hotrauder, Marauderman, and I offered up plenty of anecdotal info, enough to fill at least a couple chapters....hope we at least get mentioned in the forward.;)

Looking forward to next year; who knows, maybe ma will evern let ME run.

Made it home at 6 pm last night. I dropped Hack off at 3 pm. It was good to see everyone and watch you race. We did have a oil burning issue on the way home with the Benz. It decided it was thirsty and was burning two quarts per tank. Not pretty when the guy on the motorcyle in Ohio got behind us, Forty degrees and drizzling, Paul had to speed up and so much oil smoke came out of you could not see the poor guy!

Watching Tom's run from right behind him in staging lane was a true privilege. It was like watching history being made!!! That car just kept pulling. It held the 'squat' all the way down the track!

I ran a 12.9 - not great. Street tires had a real hard time gripping. However, I ran a personal best MPH of 108.9 after slipping on the line, getting out and back in again. I was pleased. The car has a low 12 in her for sure.

I do not believe it is required for a full frame, four door with unaltered fire wall according to the tech I spoke with at Atlanta. I hope you are wrong Brian.

From NHRA's FAQ tech questions:

If the floor and/or firewall has been modified, then a full roll cage is required beginning at a 10.99 e.t. A full roll cage is required in any vehicle running 9.99 seconds or quicker, and any vehicle running 135 mph or faster (regardless of e.t.). The roll cage must be constructed of minimum 1 5/8 o.d.x .118 mild steel tubing, or 1 5/8 x .083 chrome moly tubing, and must conform to the following diagram:

And besides, when he said "I stopped you for your tint.." I said 'REALLY?!" :D

So I :wflag:.... because I was :burnout:!
