Just wondering...
I'm thinking for the price maybe I should just do a portable GPS. But I do know I'll use the DVD and Divx feature alot...
Will it really play divx files from an SD card?
Like I could watch my top gear rips in the car?
How good are the maps?
Is the GPS easy and quick to program destinations? sometimes I have up to 13 stops in a day. (I'm a Realtor)
Do all of the factory speakers including the sub still work?
Does the 6 disc changer still work?
Is the voice recognition worth a damn or does it really work good?
I know there is an adaptor for the factory wheel controls. Does it really work? I care mostly about the volume control.
Does the blue tooth REALLY work good?

I will answer some of your questions. The guys can give opinions on the others.
The maps are good but you will hit areas that are not covered.
The sub does not work.
You will lose the changer unless you put in a Pioneer changer.
Most guys have been happy with the steering wheel interface although a few have had problems. Sometimes they need to be reprogrammed.

Anyway to make the factory sub work without massive wire hacking?

Yes

I would think so.

Real good and update-able thru sd

fairly, especially if in the same or neighboring towns.

Nope. Sub won't. All other will and much better. You'll want to upgrade them, too. Between my box and sub and amp from john, the sub can be upgraded faily inexpensively.
Does the 6 disc changer still work?
Nope. The factory 6 disk doen't interface with anything. However you can set up a 9g dl dvd with mp3's. Who needs a changer?! 8g sd, 2g usb. Wtf you need a changer for?!
Is the voice recognition worth a damn or does it really work good?
Works pretty well. Sometimes not as well when at highway speeds due to ambient noise.
I know there is an adaptor for the factory wheel controls. Does it really work? I care mostly about the volume control.
Yes it works and you can choose from 9 functions for your 4 buttons.
Does the blue tooth really work good?
Works so good it's annoying. Will join my phone from about 50 ft!

Nope. Sub takes a mono balanced signal. Aftermarket radio puts out stereo un-balanced. It's not worth it. Upgrade with one of the all-in-one units like thunderlink or get my box and amp and sub from John.

I've installed at least 20 of them on Marauders. You gotta know the functions you want and you gotta be quick when you program. It STILL takes me at least twice to get it how I like it.

Intresting. See my issue with putting an aftermarket sub/amp in is that I cannot loose any space in the trunk. I put large real estate open house signs back there. The only thing I could do would be some sort of system on the shelf or in the rear deck like the stock one.
The 4 primary speakers already have been upgraded.
Richs sub box fits to the left of the spare tire. Rest of the trunk stays as it is.

Rich's space saver box fits exactly where the OEM box is, and you can still keep the spare

Thanx for the pics, ORC. That picture is the strongest and most expensive version of that setup. Look at Ryan's sticky in John's forum....
