Well I'm trying to figure out what I want for Christmas from the wife. For my pick it gift I'm limited to around $200 give or take. I was looking at a deep tranny pan, rear sway bar or Basslink sub.
My question is about the Basslink II. Has anyone used this with the 4 channel amp upgrade? If someone has let me know what you think of it. I wouldn't mind going this way because I can get the sub now and upgrade to the plug in amp later.
If it is not really worth going with the add in amp (I already have a 300 x 4 JL audio amp that I can use for my mids and highs), what would be better the Basslink I or Basslink II? I was just looking this route to keep clutter down on the top shelf but if the add in is not worth it I can find a way to mount my JL amp. I'm looking for clean crisp sound, not enough power to make my ears bleed, but something better than the crappy stock system with out the rear deck vibrations.
They work good! PM me when you are ready for one. Make a board and mount your amp behind the back seat out of the way.

If you don't need bone breaking bass go with the Basslink... I did.

So would you recommend the Basslink I using a external 300W amp or the Basslink II with the add on BassLink 4sc amplifier module.
Here is what I have already to put in the car when the kit is complete:
JL Audio 300W 4x75W amp (mid and highs), won't use if I go with the Basslink II
4 MB Quart 5x7 speakers DCD157
Kenwood Ez500 Head Unit,
Kenwood 6 disk changer (replace the factory 1)
4 gauge power wiring, Monster RCA cables.
I also have a old school MTX RT2200x Amp 425 W 4 ohm bridged. I was thinking this would work well w/a single 12 but never found the right home on my other vehicles.
John what could you build to use with this? I want to keep it in the confines of the stock sub area and mount my Amps. I also will need to be able to fit a full size spare wheel.
Maybe something with more thump for when I want it and just keep the volume down most of the time. Think about it and PM me.
Contact magindat for a box. His box will fit next to the spare tire and he does a nice job. I can sell you a MTX sub and you should use the MTX amp. It will work better than the Bass Link plus not take up any more room. I think your deck has a sub control built into it so you can easily adjust the bass output. There are pictures in my forum of his box. Look for calling Windser58. There are many differant prices on the subs. I will figure out which one matches your amp on Friday when I am back at work.

If I had a JL 300/4 I would run the front channels to the mids/highs and bridge the rear channels for sub use. When I use to sell/install car A/V that is what we call the budget system since rear speakers are used for fill in and entertain rear passengers. Having a lot of sound coming from the rear speakers can throw off the front "sound stage" that front speakers can setup.

Tried a similar setup in my Cougar. I didn't like the way it sounded or maybe I just didn't have it setup right. I can adjust the gains and levels easily with my head unit and get better sound running separate amps. I think I'm gonna do a quick refresh on my MTX amp install new Fets and reflow the board with nice clean solder. If anyone know a source for some good Fets lets me know I want to replace all of them but haven't been directly involved with electronic components for about 5 years. If anyone can recommend something let me know.
