Was helping my niece look at an '06 Ford Fusion this morning. The sales wonk (it was a woman...does that make her a wonkette?) told me "that's a sharp Crown Vic you have there." I said "Yeah, it's a special edition."

It wouldn't have been so bad but this was at a MERCURY dealership. :shake:

All the people at our F/L/M dealership know what my car is, probably thats because they used to sell them (also where i first encountered a blk and sb in 2005)

Sometimes it is just better to say nothing. Wish that I had that kinda of self-control. ;)

At least she hit the right "family" of cars and didn't have to ask what it was.

I had a lot tech and two sales men follow me into the service area at my local Ford dealer when I took mine in for a free oil change. :D They all wanted to know everything about it.

That's like when I lived in New Hampshire for 8 years - friends in NY would say " NH? that's in Vermont right?" I'd say " Yep! (here's your sign)"

I had a salesman that came up to me when I was looking at mustangs and I told him I was just looking and that I have a mercury marauder and he said what is that? and I pointed to it and he asked if it was a special grand marquis and I said yeah thats it and then I explained production numbers etc and he walked away... Sorry I know more about your vehicles than you do!

I can understand her mistake. Without the reflectors across the back she could think it was a Vic if she didnt read the bumper or see the emblem.

When my older brother was replacing his MArauder, he test drove a Dodge Magnum RT..... i met him there in my Marauder to test with him and we found the experience to be kinda different....

the dealer spent more time telling us about how nice our cars were and asking questions about them then he did about the magnum! loved the experience, hated the magnum

My bad, but he still could have answered me instead of correcting my meager spelling mistake.

A year ago I pulled into the local Kwik-E-Mart and parked next to a Jeep SRT8. The 20 something year old owner came out a moment later and I asked him a few questions about it.

He popped the hood and pointed to the aftermarket strut tower brace. He called it an "anti-roll bar". :shake: He even had an extra 50hp from the aftermarket CAI.

He then asked about my car. "Is that a Buick?"

"Yep!" I said, "It's a Buick Marauder...You won't see another like it! It's very rare!"

I really didn't feel like explaining the whole history of the world to him. This spoiled rich dim-wit was a lost cause.

I just imagine him telling all his buddys about the Buick Marauder he seen. Hopefully he lost a big bet with one of them. :D
