The knowledge that Ive receceived here has been instrumental in my recent purchase of a "new" black 300A. Found the rubberbands, saw the bright tripometer, and received the jacket sizing letter from Mercury in the mail today. I felt fully prepared when I went into the dealer and got every option available. Wished that I would of haggled for a tint treatment the way they wanted to sell. With my new knowledge of the car's paint issues I'll be picking my Marauder up from the dealer next week after a full respray. The body shop manager is talking 3 layers then a clear coat. Hopefully it will work out. If anyone knows better I'd appreciate any info.
Thanks
PD

Thanks all for the warm welcome, you guys do crack me up. The paint issue is primarily due to sitting on a lot in the weather for a year but it does have 6 areas where buffing just cant remove the scratches or bubbles. These areas are spread throughout the cars surface thus requiring a full respray due to blending requirements. The body shop manager told me that due to the multiple complaints from owners the word from the Southeast region is to fix the paint and make the customer happy. May be worth looking into.

I had to ask them to repaint the hood because of misc scratches. I think it depends on how soon you ask.

Hey Guys
Still waiting on my repray to be completed. The bodyshop folks were talking about having to switch suppliers for paint because the paint they were using came out with "fish hooks" when it sprayed on. I dont know what they are talking about but they assure me that I will be completely satisfied. I hope so. Spent the last few days cleaning out my garage and moving stuff into my new shed in the backyard. The wife refused to keep her family truckster Volvo on the drive and I'm not about to put the newly painted MM outside either. Doesnt make sense to keep thousands of dollars worth of car outside and a bunch of seldom used junk warm and dry.
