How do you install chrome shifter bezel, knob & collar?

I have all the parts from the Crown Vic Sport to install the bezel, knob and shifter collar. I cannot find the thread that shows how to change it out. Anyone know where this thread is?

Too Many ... relax. First, the reason why he wants to send it too me privately is that it is too big to post here. And second ... people let other people on the forum know they have been PM'ed, because they may not check their messages regularly and/or they may not have the forum setting set up to peg their regular e-mail.

To the OP;

First remove the floor console finish panel. To do so pop out the gauge pod and disconnect the two gauges and lighter (move shifter to 1 (parking brake on!)). The finish panel pops up and out. Open the console door to get a little better grip on it.


The collar on the shifter slides straight down. There are two torx screws now exposed holding the handle on. Remove these and slide the handle straight up WHILE holding the shift button or it will pop out. Disconnect the o/d off button wiring as you do so. Put a piece of tape around the handle to hold the button in.
Then you can change the collar and button to the chrome CV Sport/LSE/Continental versions.


The bezel needs to be changed while the handle is off. It just pops straight up and off the shifter base. The bulb socket is a twist-in style.
Installation is reverse of removal. Easy job ;)
