My son is in CA and he found a 2003 SVT Focus for sale but it's in East Pointe,MI.and I'm in Chicago. By any chance do we have any members nearby who have had any experience with a Focus SVT that might be able to check it out for him.
If he gets it he'll be moving to Made in the USA vehicles and selling his 2004 Audi S4 and his 2002 Honda S2000 to buy a townhouse.

Wish I could help, heck you are still teaching me and we haven't gotten to vehicles past 1983!

either bluerauder or cruztaker had something similar before the accident.

cruztaker has a 2006 focus 4dr, not an svt.

Still he should know a thing or 2 about them.

Here's the latest,we've hooked up with Focus Fanatics website and they're just as nuts about their cars as we are about MM's.We've learned quite a bit about the SVT's from them.
For some reason my son decided to pass on the car in MI. although I thought it was pretty cool he didn't like some of the mods like the tinted tail lights and a modded dash although i told him I'm pretty sure some of the FF guys would've been more than happy to trade stock parts for the nicely modded ones but it's gonna be his car so it's up to him.
Two mods he's planning on right off are either a S/C or a turbo set up,but he's leaning towards a roots type S/C,and either a Torsen or other posi set up as they're one legged from the factory. He's even considering a 5 door for practical purposes as they're only some 60 or so pounds heavier and lots more convienent for hauling stuff. So we'll see where the search takes us for a hot little Ford pocket rocket.
BTW,this was the MI car,it is female owned and she also has a modded Lightning and another fast ride. I really like this little car,if I had the dough laying around I'd be real tempted. http://detroit.craigslist.org/cto/902259531.html

Better check insurance rates before buying. These cars are expensive!

I doubt insurance costs would be a deterent,he's already got a Honda S2000,an Audi S4 and a Honda CBR600F4i and had some really nasty speeding tickets.
I doubt a Focus SVT could be near as expensive as any of the 3 above
I can't afford to get a moving violation as I've got a CDL and they're real jerks about that stuff and I really don't want to have to retake all the tests, major PITA.
But I would like to get a MMX driveshaft in the MM and do at least one top end run with a gps just to satisfy my curiousity.
I wonder what a MM's top speed is with 3.55's and no speed limiter?

You may be suprised on the ins. rate. I bought a ZX3 and it was 2200 a year! 52 years old at that time with a clean record.

I just happened to buy one about 6 weeks ago, 04 red svt ZX3. Got caught on a low bid on e-bay and now I own it. :)
I have done a lot of research since, so if you have any questions, let me know.
My insurance was about the same as the 03 MM here in SFL.
