Hello everyone, I've been looking for a long time and I can't seem to find any maroon MM's out there. I take it that maroon is the rarest color to find. Anyone have any leads? I might just end up with a Grand Marquis.

They did not make any Maroon Marauders.

A maroon MM is impossible to find 'cause they didn't make any. :P Dark Toreador Red = DTR at 980 produced ('04 only) is a bit easier. Dark Blue Pearl = DBP ('03 only) is the rarest with 327 produced.

There were some errors in the color numbers on my list. Here are the "corrected" amounts:
983 DTR
993 SB
1237 Black

No, car salesman: "A blue what?"

(20 minute explanation and waiting while car salesperson goes to google Marauder)

"We don't sell bikes here."

(Cut to 20 minutes after that)

"They only made them in black."

"Let me show you this nice Honda Pilot."

True that.

Hey - I wanted a silver one with a sunroof (170 made). I took the advice of those in the know and was patient and got exactly what I was looking for. Good luck looking - they're out there and they are loved by their owners. Once you make the purchase - it will be worth it.

No I have not bought the DTR MM on Long Island. Is $14,000 a good price for a one owner clear carfax with 42k miles on it? I've also got my eyes on another car. It's not a MM but it is a Panther and it's a beauty.

$14,000 sounds like a good price to me especially for a rare DTR with "low" miles if it was well kept. According to the current poll on mileage, 42K is on the low side of most of the current membership here on the "under 50K" side of the stats.

Only you can determine whether it is worth it to you. You either want an MM or you don't. There is no substitute.

+1 Charlie!

The platforms may be the same, but a CV or GM ain't a Marauder.

$14K for a DTR with 42,000 on it isn't a bad deal. (Now if it was a BLUE, it would be a FANTASTIC deal!):D

DTR is certainly not Maroon. For Maroon, think 1969 Shelby with the black accents. Now, those are Maroon. If you are considering a Marauder, then you already know that you can't compare it to any other Panther. They simply are not in the same class whatsoever.

I don't know why everyone is so anal about MAROON Marauders, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck..... Hmmm... Must be a duck?

Same with the interior! God forbid someone says black or light grey interior.

Ok I'm done:)

I do believe I'm going to do what scruff said." P71 " If the weather cooperates, I will be looking at a nice one this weekend. The more I think about it, I just can't justify spending all that money on a MM when there are some pretty nice P71's out there for alot less.

If you haven't done a driving comparision between an MM and a P71, you might want to do so before making your final decison. There IS a difference between the two.

I never even considered buying a Crown Vic or Grand Marquis. I was shopping for a Mustang when I came upon a Marauder. One drive and I was hooked. Why buy a two door when you can have a four Mustang? With more power and amenities too.

P71 1/4th mile at best, 15.8

Marauder 1/4th at worst 15.5

See what were getting at?

If your not a gear head:

In my opinion, the MM doesn't look like the GM. It most closely resembles a 02-03 CV Sport (which is also hard to find and not usually differentiated from a CV or CV LX). More interior parts look more physically interchangeable with the CV rather than the GM.

The blacked out headlights, tailights, cibie lower fog lights, body colored "bright inserts" and grill (save black SB), lower rear valence panel with a CV rib that extents all the way across the car instead of part way on the CV and P71 or the twin lines of the GM, the heavy duty "cannon" tubes (thump one and listen to it ring) and rear spoiler make the external look unique which will make finding body parts difficult. Fortunately, I don't crash a lot.

The newer Grand Marquis and Crown Victoria have an unappealing analog instrument panel and upside down shaped steering wheel center with less control buttons than the 02-04 CV GM MM models. I've noted that the reflective portion between the tail lights on the GM were all Red until 2006 when they turned Black.

I've heard that there's an expensive 3 valve 4.6L SOHC that outperforms the already-in-car 4 valve 4.6L DOHC, but those big Boss 429 sized cam covers on this cobra engine looks pretty cool.

Find one of the more plentiful 03-04 Black MM models and try them out. If your a looks only guy (which I appear to be in this message), the Black ones look good waxed! They all go well, turn well, sound good, make impressions on others. The gas mileage isn't bad either for an extremely heavy 4150 lbs. I just paid $10 extra for yearly state registration because the form says the car weighs 4400 lbs over 3800 lbs for my 93 CV

Muddflapp got it right. The GM rear bumper cover and tail lights are uuuuuuggggllly tacky. The MM does not even really look like a CV from far away, up front, because the blacked out headlight edges makes the lights appear different. That minor change by Ford was a nice distinction to make the MM stand out from the rest.

The rear is simalar to a CV, but ford tinted all the lights so it looks better :D

the only CVPI that'd have a snowballs chance in hell of beating a stock MM would be a 04CVPI with a good driver vs a 03 MM with a bad driver.

Otherwise, no contest.
