Last night after work, I met up with a few friends at a bar / club in Belmar. When it shut down at 2am, we were all still energetic and needed someplace else to go. I dunno why, but I got this great idea to head up to Staten Island to Curves (you should all be able to figure out what kinda joint that is by the name and it's hours!).

A few people didn't want to go... but soon changed their minds when I, along with a friend driving his new V6 6-speed Altima, made some rediculous promise that we could make it from Belmar to the "business" in Staten Island in under 30 minutes.

I was VERY suprised when his Altima (with 4 people in it) took me off the line at a light... I only began to pull on him when he was halfway through 2nd gear. Once we got out on the wide-open highway, we staged up at a toll booth. This time I had a nose on him all the way up to about 75. He then inched foward ever slow slowly. I backed off at 130 when I noticed the "vibration" for the first time ever. I need that driveshaft!!! Keep in mind that this was done at 2:15am on a 6 lane wide stretch of highway with NOONE around. I'd never do that in traffic.

I planned on getting pulled over at least twice on the trip, but it only happened once when I passed a trooper with the cruise control set at 101-102. Even with that delay, We still made it in 32 minutes. NICE!!

Info left out here!!

1. What/where was he when your at 130?

2. Are you saying you did get a ticket or just that the trooper past you going in opposite direction and only caused you to slow down?

and BTW, got mine to 130 last week--same problem --will need new shaft as well...FYI..Tom

I'm sure you showed him your tin and got out of it. Masterbadge can't leave home with out it.

Then I suppose the driveshaft is the next mod!

Marauderman -- I hit 130 when noone else was around. The trooper was travelling on MY side of the parkway when I passed him...

I only passed him by a car length and then noticed that it was an unmarked car. I quickly slowed to a speed that was similar to his. He then sped up and got in front of me in the fast lane. He brought his CVPI up to 110, so I followed (letting him set the pace). Then he pulled a "Maverick" move --- switched to the middle lane and slammed on his brakes, then gunned it and pulled up behind me. The lights came on, so I stopped immediately. He walked up and simply stated, "You must be 'on the job'... cause nobody else is that stupid..." I affirmed and apologized for my actions... ensuring that I meant no disrespect.

Great finish to a great story--ONLY BADGE to BADGE can this be pulled off--it's part of the Fraternity the LEO enjoy's--and they should ..I'd be really pisxxed off if one treated another wrongly...you handled it MOSY approiately!!! I would say-- I can picture it all as it happened..as I ride twice a year for whole shift with my best friend here who is LEO.. I have such a great time when I do--gets my fustration out from all the axxholes out there--..ok enough--nice story..Tom

That Altima has 240 horses. It is lighter. It will get you out of the hole. When the MM hits second watchout. That riceburner has another thing coming then.

I think that the manufactures of atleast some of those rice burners simply choose an extreme low first gear for their transmissions simply so that they can advertise great 0-60MPH times to the public in order to boost sales. But what they don't tell you is that after 60 or 70 MPH, their rice makers begin to fade due to lack of engine displacement and HP.

I find your suggestion insulting and I'm offended. To think that a major automobile company would intentionally decieve the motoring public and lie to it's customers in advertising, is unthinkable. I think you...Wait a minute.

I own a Marauder...Nevermind.

The name of that shiot hole just came to me......."the black garter"...lol what a dump. That place Curves used to be called Hips. I guess the "Wiseguys" who run it had to change the name for some reason.......;) The road is crazy, all those dump trucks going to the Arthur Kill Dump.

I was at Lipsticks last Thursday at about 3am. That was a pretty nice place. Fun time getting there, too.... my buddy (LS6 TransAm) and I played follow the leader all the way up.
