Morning all,

After being a MM owner and member of this site since April I'm wondering if anyone knows whether any SSM's have been issued in regards to paint problems on our vehicles.

I'm starting to notice new places where the paint is popping up in small dots Looks like the car has dandruff on the roof and hood. Also noticed a new spot inside the door that looks like sand under the paint.

Anyone else having paint problems increasing as the car gets older?

Advice or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike :banana2:

PS: All you guys and gals going to Ennis stay safe!

I bought my MM in June, not a single imperfection in the paint. Now after about 3 months, I'm getting the little groups of bubbles in 2 places on the roof so far.

Just one more reason to strip all the paint, and do it properly in PPG Cadzilla Black!!:D

I found a blue spot (where it should be black) on the right rear, getting more noticeable! I got the car July 02, will warranty take care of it, or should I bother / could it get worse?
Thanks,'

Marsha,

Sorry to hear about your blue spot. I can't tell you whether it will get worse or not, but I would sure keep a close watch on it. It appears that a lot of the "spot type" paint problems are showing up on the roofs and upper portions of the car body. My guess would be that this is because those areas get more abuse from the sun and other elements.

Will warranty take care of it?? That’s a good question and from some of the post I have read from other MM owners it appears that a lot of what is covered under our warranty is dependent upon the agenda of the dealership.

Example, I was refused warranty service from Thoroughbred Ford here in Kansas City, with them sighting that a bulletin had been issued from ford that marauders could not be worked on except by a ford/Lincoln mercury dealership. I just picked up my MM from Bill Woods Ford, a strictly Ford dealer and was very happy with their work. The service manager at Bill Woods told me that Thoroughbred is such a large volume dealer that they can refuse to work on whatever they want to, even though, legally they wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

The point I'm trying to make is it pretty much depends on your relationship with and the attitude of your service manager, unless you are willing to follow the litigation route.
While you are deciding I would take a close look at your roof, hood, and trunk, for small spots where paint appears to be missing, or bubbling up.

Good luck and keep us informed as to what you find out.

Mike
