Hello all. I have never participated much in the online community aspect of this forum, since I am an anti-social prick, but it has always been a vital resource for when I needed to know some obsucre bit of Marauder know how.

Here's my problem:

My Driver's side window was extremely finicy after about a year of owning my 2003 Marauder, which I got used in 2006 w/21000 miles. I've had very few problems and she's mostly stock. Most of the time the window would stick at the end of the work day, when it was hot and I wanted to roll the windows down, the DS window would occasionally stay closed and not move at all. It would be like this sometimes for days, and then inexplicably would work again when it was cooler outside. It would sometimes work the next morning, and then not work again at noon. I figure this has something to do with the switch itself, and not the dreaded motor. When it would stick, the voltometer would move when I pushed the switch, but the motor would not make a sound or anything.

Has anybody else had this problem? Does it sound like it may be the switch or the motor? If it is the motor, what is the best way to get into it without breaking any panels? Thanks in advance!

Has anybody ever taken off the door panel? Where do I start?

Sounds like either your window motor could be going bad or the window switch. i would start with the switch first because of the cheap and easy install. If that doesnt fix it then look towards the window motor.

There has been excellent writeups on taking the door panels off.... use the search function.

I'd try looking at all the connections first (switch and motor), if they aren't clean & tight then make them clean & tight. Then check the switch. If your getting power to the motor then the motor is going bye - bye. Time to replace it.

Try lubing the the window channel with a good quality silicone spray.

Try replacing the drivers side switch. My passenger window on my marauder was working off & on, after I replaced the switch the problem was solved. The switch is $53.98 list price from ford.

If the lights dim when you mash the button, the switch works. If not, switch fried. Go from there.

It's the switch. The contacts burn and it goes intermittent. Clean contacts or replace switch.

I have occaisional window stick issues in very hot weather. I just whack the door with the side of my fist and it releases.

It was apparently caused by the window jamming in the up position in hot weather. Slamming the door as Brian H suggested seems to work at unjamming it. However, it doesn't stick as long as I don't "check" the button by pushing it again after it goes up and stops. Doing so will jam the DS, but none of the other windows. I will actually tap the down on the DS window button quick so that it removes the tension, as it would to go back down. That seems to fix it. Hasn't happened in a long time now. Thanks for the suggestions.

Mine was sealing so good that it would stick in hot weather. I found that if I hit the button down quickly (where the window moves just a little) it would stop sticking. Black does it, Blue does not do it.
Silicone spray helps.
