i need to replace my a/c compressor clutch bearing, its making a whining noise. Is this simple to do or should i take it to an a/c shop? Also Im not positive if its just the clutch, has anyone had the compressor itself make a whining noise that gets louder as rpm's go up.

PM me your email for factory R+R steps. The attachment is too large to post it up here. :)

If the compressor is not engaged and it makes noise, it should just be the pulley bearing. You can replace the clutch disc and the bearing fairly simply on vehicle. If you need to replace the electromagnetic clutch, it presses on and off, then removal of the compressor may be necessary. Just remove the belt, center bolt/nut and pull the disc off. There should be a shim behind the disc, up inside the hole where the shaft splines go, don't lose it, you'll need it on reassembly. Remove the snap ring that holds the pulley and remove. It is a tight fit onto the compressor but is not pressed, just have to work it off without damaging the e/m clutch behind it. Reassemble in reverse order, make sure you have .014 to .030" clearance still between the disc and clutch surface on the new pulley and your good to go.

Yes it makes the noise while the a/c is off. So all i need to replace is the a/c compressor pulley bearing? Or do i need to replace both the pulley bearing and clutch disc?

I would replace the clutch, field coil, and bearing all together.
