Lot rot?

The Marauder I drive was built 10/03, purchased and took delivery 12/30/03.
It was delivered from the factory to the same dealership I purchased it from.
Was your Marauder on the new dealers lot , for any lenght of time?

I think mine was for a few months. 2 fellow MM.net members looked at it before me :)

My DTR was delivered to Heritage LM in Greenville, SC early Feb. 2004, we bought it April 4th.

My DBP was delivered to Vantage LM in Charlotte, NC end of June 2003 and was sold August 23rd. The original owner drove it until he succumbed to cancer in May 2005. The car was then garaged until I bought it in November 2005, with 9K on the clock.

But on the other hand a new one by me was $38,000 plus all the other plus's and i paid $22,500 for mine with 13,340 miles on her.

Sucks not to be new but atleast i found a way to get one.

Funny though mine was at carmax for half a day. I found it online in my daily search (3 month's of searching), reserved it for inspection and went down to see it twenty minutes later. When i got there they pulled it up to the door way for my test drive and before i even made it to the car three other couples power walked over like vulchers and took quick interest. So basically i allready knew this one had to go home right then and there or kiss it goodbye and keep looking. I've never been happier with any other car or purchase.

Oddly enough........mine sat on the lot in July '02 till I bought it in Nov.'02=took four months of dealing with the dealer to finally get the price down enough to buy----it had 302 miles on it when I bought it....remember that number!!!!It came with that advertised as the HP --the only 4DR with such power back then---now that is small on whats out there in the same field.....but anyway---it was apparently trial driven a bunch .....but she got a complete new change out anyway---of just about everything she came with----a keeper.....carry on..Tom

My MM was built on 10 January 2003 and was delivered to a dealer in PA. Somehow it was trans-shipped to VA where I took delivery on 4 October 2003. It still had the PA inspection sticker on the windshield when I took it for a test drive. Only 54 miles on the odometer. Must have sat in Pennsylvania for most of the 10 months.

I was waiting for mine to be delivered. ( I set the purchase up 60 days in advance. The dealer bought it from another dealer.) It was damaged and not excepted. I waited another 4 days and it just came in to the Oxnard Lincoln Mercury dealer. It was transferred to the dealership I bought it from the following day. I picked it up the following day. Almost 87000 miles and gowing strong.

I'm embarrassed... so I'm not going into detail, but I bought mine from a VOLKSWAGON dealership $15,000.00 with under 30,000 miles. Enough said, but I got my baby!

Ditto. Mine didn't spend any significant time on the dealer lot. Other than to peel the protective plastic off and wash it.

And I nearly kept the plastic. ;) How could it be 'factory original' without it. Hehe. Then I got drive by assaulted with a clue-by-four.

Mine had a March 04 inspection sticker and I bought it in October 04 so it sat on the lot at least seven months. Mine was one of four on the lot at the time, the other three were one each of silver, black and dtr, all with moonroofs (I was looking for a black one but had to get the one without the moonroof). These cars just didnt sell; we all remember when North Park in San Antonio had what, 33 of them on the lot?

We went to the dealer on a Saturday to ask about this new "Marauder" they were coming out with. The dealer called on Monday and said one just just arrived on the truck, did we want to take it for a ride. We did, and bought it on the spot. It was in our driveway on Wednesday.

So from its build date of Aug 29th to our driveway on Sept. 11th.

I think I may be winning this contest so far. Mine was built in June 02, and I bought it new from the dealer in Jan 04. It sat there for a while before I travelled the 770 miles to TN to pick it up and drive it home.

My 03 was a demo, had 2k on the clock when I picked it up in Vermont January 2005. There was still a brand new 03 with 34 miles sitting on the lot at the time I picked mine up.

back in the mid 80s a chevy dealer in sacramento ordered a big order of champagne colored 4-cylinder camaros for the state. the state cancelled, and the dealer was stuck with 50+ identical ugly underpowered camaros. they were advertised specials for the remainder of the model year (really really cheap) but many went unsold for several years sitting in the back lot and the used car lot (with a new sticker) a buddy of mine got one that was 5 years old with no miles. he put a big block in it... (4 years no smog checks on new cars...)

From the build date to my delivery date was 1 month 3 days. However, with transportation time not factored in, I believe my MM went to the 1st owner in less than 3 weeks.

There were 17 on that lot when I went....My born on date is 06/04 and I purchased her on 11/24/04. I test drove her the day before and when I went back for her there were 8 left....Mine was the only Silver and the only one with a Moon Roof.....she had 7 miles on her and I got her for $23,985.

Build date late august 2002. Purchased new early april of 2004. So it sat on the dealers lot for well over a year!!

Mine sat on the lot for more than a few months, but no where near as long as some folks here... It was there in the late summer/fall of 2002, and I picked it up in May, 2003.

I got a steal on the price, because of how long it sat with little to no interest shown by anyone other than me (I test drove it months before, when it first hit the dealer's lot) :burnout:

Ordered in Piqua, Ohio and driven 6,453 miles in less than two years-I got it from the owner in 2006 with Ford ESP warranty good till 2010.
