My rear tires are toast (10k miles) and instead of replacing with the same type I think I want to go with Nitto 55 or 55r. I will be installing a Supercharger soon and need some bite.
They don't seem to make our size so let me know what you all think as far as size and 55's or 55r's.
Thanks...Mike

I'm in the market for the same thing. So let's keep each other informed on this.

Thanks

Get the Nitto Extreme Drag 305/45/18 Tires
They actually fit on the stock rims (slight bulge) but function great
Dennis was driving around on them the whole weekend
They have more tread than other drag radials

Zack, I was just on Nitto's site and can't find those tires in that size.

Look at current issue Mustangs, FF. They did a review on street drag tires.

BFG got a favorable review.

Call Jerry Barnes, he got his stock rear rims extended 1 1/2 inch to fit better on the Trilogy car so they don't look so bulky. Maybe he can get you a deal on those tires as well. Those Nittos worked great in the rain storm all the way back from TX to MI going 75 - 85 MPH!

Are there any hazzards associated with putting the 305's on the stock rim? Bulging rear tires on a 2 ton car sounds kind of scary.. but if it's safe, I think I'll talk myself into getting a set before the track closes for the season :)

I don't see 305s listed on the Nitto site.

You have to use the yellow arrow on the right-hand side to scroll down to the larger tires.

Potentially. You should stick to the manufacturer's guidelines for wheel size. Weight capacity, life, etc. are based on the proper sized wheel. You won't know what you'll get by not using the right wheel. Also, I suspect cornering stiffness would go down and tire wear would increase with too narrow of a wheel.

Also, as a side note, I've hear Mustang owners only getting about 10k miles on drag radials since they are so soft. I think that included a lot of burnouts though. You have to get them hot to stick well.

10k is what I got with the factory tires.
