With time off during the holidays, and some decent weather, I decided to fix the LCM and wiper issues that have been pestering the Bluesmobile.

Changed out the faulty relay on the LCM, $3.00 fix versus $200+ for a new LCM. May go out again, but NBD to change out if it does. Special thanks to vegasmarauder and frdwrnch for the advice on removing the LCM. It's a tight fit, but once you get the module out, dis-assembly, repair and re-installation is a snap. Biggest issue I had was work space. Couldn't squeeze my fat azz into the space in front of the seat, so I ended up pulling the driver's seat to give me more room. Once that was out, piece of cake!

Also ended up replacing the wiper drive assembly. The motor crapped out (in the rain, away from home, wiper blades stuck in the middle of the windshield.:() completely on me, so I really didn't have a option but to fix it now.

Thanks to richy04 for the great "how-to" write-up, followed that and had no problems removing and replacing all the components.

Word to all MM owners, take the time to pull the cowl cover and clean out the wiper drive assembly panel as detailed by richy:

I couldn't believe the crap that accumulated clogging the drain flap and drain holes in my panel. Obviously, the water build up lead to the motor failure on my car, but all taken care of now with the new wiper motor, tranmission and controller installed. Good pm tip: clean yours out now, save yourself some headaches down the road.

Also got my dead pedal installed (Merry Christmas!), special thanks to Ron (Bigcars4ever), love it!

Yep, yep, yep .... especially important if your MM lives outside.

Glad to hear you finally cured your wacky wipers, Rex.

Glad to hear you got it fixed Rex and saved some money instead of going with Geico lol.

Yes if you haven't cleaned out the cowl flap DO IT NOW unless you car is garage kept it's going to build up stuff. Here is what mine looked like.

Deja vue all over again!

There are also pockets on either side of the one with the flap that have drain holes, and these were plugged up bad on mine as well. Take the time to clean these out too, if you've got the cover off.

BTW, had light rain on the way home from church this morning, wipers work on all speeds, shut off when I want them to, and no more grinding noise. To top it off, no more flashing headlights, even on the auto setting; LIFE IS GOOD!

I opted to take a drill and drill some more holes and increase the size of the stock drain holes also. I never had the light issue, just the wiper control module. Bought a new motor which helped gain some control of the wipers but didn't fix the problem until I saw someone's thread about repairing the wiper control module and ended up taking the WCM from the new motor and put it on my oem motor and tada problem fixed.
