I am looking to see if anyone has a diagram of the 4r75w trans specifically looking for how the shifter seal is put in to the pan as I need to change mine. Hopefully I can do it by removing the external stuff and getting the seal out that way. Thanks

It may be possible to do it without dropping the tranny. Remove the gear selection switch, disconnect the external linkage from the cable, drop the pan, remove the nut from the inside linkage. Once the inside linkage is loose the shaft should slide out enough to be able to spin it around so it clears the floor pan at the tunnel, but I can't say for sure. It may be necessary to drop the crossmember so the tranny tilts down a little bit to get enough clearance to pull the shaft out. It has an o-ring seal.

Well did the job today really easy to do. I just pulled the return line from the cooler off started the car up to drain the fluid. Dropped the pan, disconnected the outside linkage 18mm wrench, removed the gear selection switch 2 8mm bolts, removed the roll pin with a pliers this holds the shaft in,used a 21mm wrench on the inside shaft bolt after I removed the 8mm bolt on the spring detent thing. Only trouble was getting the dang shaft out of the case turns out that there where a couple of ridges on the far inside edge well ground them down a bit and fixed that. All went back together just fine added 7 qts of fluid so far no leak yippy skippy. The seal was 4 and change and the fluid about 6 and change each I used Mobil one stuff. This could be done on the ground but I know that I wouldn't want to do it.

Well you did help some. It was hard to find the part number though at the dealership. Ford calls it something like a manual shift lever seal. The parts guy found it though. I was a little confused when he asked if it was a manual trans car (I wish a 6 speed). Thanks again.
