The transmission upgrade project is soon going to require driveshaft shortening. Now I'm in a quandry. Have my MMX shaft shortened or just get a 4" aluminum (non-MMX) one made.
My worry is, the next weak link will probably be the rear end. If I were to have a custom 9" made to fit, then I may have a driveshaf length issue since most 9" rears have a standard yoke with u-bolts instead of the companion flange which bolts directly together. If the driveshaft is converted from a companion flange setup to a standard type, it will be too short and I will have wasted my MMX shaft.
Currie's website shows a companion flange for a 9", but lists it only for the high pinion 9" carrier instead of the standard one. I guess I gotta contact them Monday.
Maybe I'll contact Moser too. Know of anybody else that does custom 9" setups?
