january 18th dinner run

i wanted to do a dinner run sometime this month, and tony (trash) said the 18th might work for him, so that has become the official date because it works for both of us. it's also someone's birthday (not mine).

CVNr's are also being invited, so we could have a decent # of cars.

so here's what i'm loosely thinking...

5:15pm meetup:
burger king/steak 'n' shake overflow lot
5021 SOM center rd. (aka OH-91)
willoughby, OH
(that lot is our "unofficial" meeting place for a lot of cruises)

5:30 departure, convoying (and playing a little bit) via downtown to:
quaker steak & lube
5935 canal rd.
valley view, OH

we should arrive between 6:15 (if nothing goes wrong) and 6:45 (if something goes wrong).

we have 15 cars hauling at least 20 people, with a potential for 27 people...this is what i'm talking about!

QS&L is expecting us with a group of 20-35 people, though i will call them with a firm number the day before the meet. we should plan on being AT the restaurant between 6:15 and 6:40, which is as wide of a gap as i could really give the guy...but it will give us time to gather up any stragglers and plan for a few cars getting lost.

by my half-ass count, that is 23 cars with 37 people.
3 cars will not be panthers.
2 of those cars will be winter beaters, as a dodge challenger SRT8 and a DBP marauder are nice weather cars only.

i posted this over at CVN, because someone asked about our arrival time at QS&L. it bears repeating here...

ETA:
this is a fluid time, because it hinges on everyone showing up at BK on time (hint, hint!). that said:
can everyone who wants to convoy PLEASE make a point to be at the willoughby burger king by 5:15?

unless something catastrophic happens, we are leaving BK @5:30pm. using that time as a benchmark, i place our arrival time at QS&L between the two following marks:
--> nobody gets lost or separated = 6:15pm
--> we have an epic FAIL = 6:45pm

in the event of an epic FAIL, one car (probably mine) will haul ass ahead and get there on time. there will probably be a few people meeting us there in advance. i don't want to leave people hangin' for a super long time.

getting 20 cars from willoughby to valley view (via downtown) will not be easy, so i will make maps for the folks in the convoy, that way everyone knows where we're going. if anyone shows up late, i will leave extra maps with the manager of steak & shake. GPS-equipped cars: feel free to help out along the way!

and, lest i forget:
if you are bringing extra people not on the list, or plan on chickening out, please let me know as soon as humanly possible...

as with the august 2008 CVN/MMN meet, i will give everyone my cell # and other details, the day before the meet...

what a blast.
i didn't take any pictures, but there were plenty of cameras going...i'll post whatever i can hijack from that "other" site...here are the highlights:

-kurt whining about the weather the whole time
-doing donuts at a vacant mall parking lot, then getting kicked out by a security guard
-getting cars stuck in snowbanks
-doing donuts at the church/elementary school i went to in the '80s
-getting more cars stuck in snowbanks
-brett's P71 breaking down on I-271...brett was subsequently spotted by crabby125 and ex-CVN'r Jony, who both stopped and repaired a busted pulley and a shredded serpentine belt in time for them to meet us at QS&L
-walking all over kurt's '04 CV
-outnumbering clevelandracing.com, who was supposed to have a meet that night but only ended up with a handful of people, while we monopolized the whole back row of the lot. by the way, they don't like our cars very much...
-playing with a chrysler 300C hemi
