I spent over 7 years in Louisville, really enjoyed living there. I will really try to make this one--a days drive and I'm there among old friends--MM.net folks and old friends from the 40's and 50's. Souns great to me. Anyone else from Texas interested--you asked for a closer meet--here it is. See youthere, Maury

I know its not always easy to get away from work for a couple of days but if you can take two days off this should be a heck of a trip, esp. for you guys who havent been able to attend any Maraudervilles. I havent read anything about a Marauderville 7 anyway and this might be it for the year. Hopefully a few more from the North Texas contingent can attend. Its one long days drive up on Thursday (822 miles for me), activities on Friday and Saturday and then return to Dallas on Sunday. Time to stretch out those Marauders legs!

Vortex/Cruzer;

FYI - James and Lara are spending the night of the 25Th with us here in Bossier and leaving the morning of the 26Th headed for I-30 (Texarkana).

If you guys are interested we can meet somewhere on I-30 in the Texarkana area (east side) and travel together. If not that's OK too.

It's about a 13 hour trip from Dallas and a 12 trip from Bossier city. If you leave Dallas at 8 AM it would be about 9:30 AM when you arrive Texarkana area, we would leave at 8 AM and be there in time to join up with not much of a wait.

Its 180 miles from Dallas to Texarkana but only 71 miles from Bossier to Texarkana.

What do you think?

Pat

It turns out I will be relocating to Kentucky/Tennessee for work on the week of the 23rd. I should be able to get on the road that Friday and cruise over to Louisville.

Will there be a drag strip event? That would make it worth the trip almost as much as seeing some of my oldest Marauder buddies.

I'd like to see Maury again! It's been too long, my friend!

It's great to see you back on the net--think of you often. Sounds like you will be in Blue Grass Country---good duty there. Spent 7+ years there in school and working. Think you will like it. Things are gonna be tight working the trip in--if I can convince Ginny she should visit her favorite sister-in-law ( 90 years old--still drives:)) while I run around with you folks, it will be a sure thing--she is still recovering from a hip problem--no surgery--and we'll have to see how mobile she is by then--am going to make my hotel res as soon as I find out if she will be staying with Lavern. Keep your fingers crossed. Really looking forward to seeing you and catching up on the latest news. Hope to see you very soon, Maury

Vortex; Cruzer;

Are you guys going to travel together? Maury, bring your Marauder Alley sign if you can fit it in. I'll bring mine too. Remember to bring your NTM hats.

There is another NTM member thats also coming from the DFW area, but I accidentally deleted his email response to my mail out so I don't have a name. Something like "First/Last" but I don't have an addy for that handle. So he must have another.

James and I will be in tandem on I-30 that Thursday Morning maybe we can hook up. We'll call when we get to Hope, Ark.

Cheers,

Maury, We can travel together no problem. I suggest you meet me at the Shell station at the Bobtown Road exit of I-30 in Garland. If you are on I-30 heading east from Dallas its about the 4th exit after you pass I-635. It is before you get to Lake Ray Hubbard. As for a time, well, its gonna be a long haul that day so Id suggest 6 AM, Thursday, 26 March. What do you think? Pat, that will put us in Hope around 8-830 AM.

Fine with me. If someone else sets it up. Last year I booked for 24 people and 36 showed up. :rolleyes: The restaurant did a really good job of reacting to our overflow -- but I think we stressed the kitchen staff a tad.

Sorry to hear Maury, hope all goes well.

On a different subject, I was curious if anybody had any interest in travelling up to Wright Patterson Air Force Base on Sunday and visiting the USAF Museum there? Its only 150 miles from Louisville (just a hop for us Texans). Ive always wanted to go see it and this is about as close as Im ever going to get so I think Im going to go. Figure if I leave Sunday am I can be there by noon on Sunday and spend all afternoon there. The website says they are open on Sundays. Ive always wanted to see the only XB-70 and the B-58, F-104 ect... Then spend the night there someplace in Dayton or near Wright Pat and head back Monday. Since it adds an extra 150 miles Ill probably spend Monday night on the road (Little Rock maybe?) then get back to Dallas Tuesday. Anybody interested for a Sunday trip?

Jim, if you get up there, go to the Cold War Exibit and take a look at the North American B-45 Tornado--that is the early version of what I flew . Ours had tip-tanks, in-flight refueling, a radar nose, highly modified J-47 engines and platforms for 21 different camera combinations--a wonderful bird. Hope you can make it--you certaily will enjoy. See you when you get home. Maury

Hi Ho;

Well it's raining cats and dogs here, but the forecast for Louisville is looking better.

James79stang and wife, Laura, came in this afternoon and will spend some time with us. We'll proceed to Louisville Thursday morning, prolly won't get there before 9 PM.

Laura liked the decals. That's always a good sign.

Ginny is doing great and there was a small chance I could make it---well, at 11:30 last night I was a passenger in the back of an ambulance on the way to the hospital--- high blood pressure, vertigo and tingling hands and feet---home by 3 AM--preliminary diagnosis is dehydration combined with a minor kidney infection--head and heart O K with CT scans--waiting for results of kidney scan--but---my orders are , don't leave town for at least 5 days.. You folks have a great time and take lots of pictures, Maury:help:

:eek::eek: I know where of you speak. I was just pm'ing frbdytch of my run in. Some years ago i spent a week in the hospital because of a kidney infection from dehydration. Two weeks of up every 45 min to the bathroom hot and cold spells. Aleve is no good for this. They admitted me instantly, more dead than alive the nurse told me.

Well thought i was getting ready to have another bought this past Sunday and Monday after drinking an A&W float, when sides started aching again and hot and cold flashes. Fortunately i knew what to do. Tylenol and lots and lots of water and light colored beer, and no more dark beverages. All better now just a wee bit of a cold.

Maury, you get lot's of rest and drink lot's of water, even when you don't want to. Keep those kidneys flushed, cokes and pepsi's in extreme moderation.
No Mountain Dews either.

That goes for the rest of you as well.

Thenks, everyone for the best wishes--things are fine--just a stupid old man trying to be a teenager--went to 2 car shows --10 hours in full sunlight on blacktop areas--drank just 2 diet cokes and went into dehydration mode---an IV and I was fine--doesn't appear to have done any systemic damage--brain, heart and kidneys appear O K--feel good. Just have to take it easy a while til the kidneys recover from the shock--Ginny is fine--handled the emergency with flying colors. Guess I've got to admit I'm at least 50:) and behave myself--as of now , I am cleared to do my Nascar driver's thing on April 26th---can't wait.
