View Full Version : Lost hope in finding a marauder

I have been looking for a mm for a few months now and given up hope. I have seen so many ruined by stupid wheels, ugly aftermarket spoilers, crashed and repaired improperly, and just plain old beat up and asking a outregous amount. I know what I have now is not a marauder (near mint 2004 cvpi), but im happy with it. Im not going to turn it into a clone, because its not going to be one, no matter what I do to it, it won't be a mm. As far as that goes, it is a shame to see people abuse these cars the way they do, and I think every time I hear about one smashed because of some idiot driver that sideswiped them, I hate the stupidity of that person, yet mistakes happen, so I understand as far as that goes. If I hear about a MM going out because it had too much power, at least it went out doing what it does best.I am going to say one thing, enjoy what you have, after seeing the marauder owners with their cars, you know they truly love them ( you too Dom) even if they don't act like it. After seeing mustang owners, mn12 owners, and even crown vic owners, you guys love what you have compared to these people.

Dude; Thou knowest not what thou sayest. Do a search on YAHOO, go to AUTOS, fill out the form and you will find there are fifty seven Marauders for sale, nationwide.

Don't be so hard on yourself.

I am in New Jersey and there a few "good" marauders that I have seen? What price range are you looking in? As far as wheels go that owners taste, they can always be changed out after the sale.

Even here on our site(s) the MMs are plentiful as a rule and tend to have been much better cared for than what you find out on the street.

autotrader.com had over 100 of them for sale nationwide at my last check. many were in fine shape. on top of that, +1 on looking at this website for your next vehicle.

take it from me: when the right car comes along, you will know.

Im curious what price range you are looking at. If you are looking way under $10k then you are going to find a lot of crap. Also what color and options are you looking for? There are threads always popping up with great deals and don't forget the members cars in the "for sale" section.

^^ Bingo. You get what you pay for and if you can spend a reasonable amount of money you have a huge selection of MM's right now. Lots of people are scared by the news media about the economy and are dumping cars.

I know of a MM in the classifieds for $8500....

I've personally seen and driven the car, and i would own it if i had the cash.

you can't expect to get a lot for nothing. You've got to take a hit with high miles, save some dough for possible repairs, or spend more upfront and get one in (possibly) better condition.

9k is what i was shooting for, i had a fair bit more. I have found clean ones, but i question how well the drivetrain was cared for.

I am looking around on here as well. of the 13 MMs ive looked at, they just didnt feel right. Im not looking for a cherry car for what i have, nor a low mile car, but more of something that was not abused. Im looking for a car to enjoy, not worry about reliablity ect. If i wanted a somewhat reliable and boring car, id buy a civic.

Maybe ill sit back and wait.

You wont find a better car for a lower price than GoMifuni's. He's owned it since practically new, and I, along with most any other MassMarauder or new england marauderer will attest to the fact that the car is loved and taken care of.

I had to drive 300 miles for mine. You may want to up your amount willing to spend. There are some good ones out there in the 12,000-13,000 range. I paid $12,500 for my black 03 with 75,000 miles on it and the only thing that I was unhappy about it was the front bumper was all chipped up. Got my friend to paint it for $200 and she is a beautiful machine now. Take your time and one will show up, took me 4 weeks to find mine. Good luck with your search!

There are several Marauders for sale on this site.
If you want a low mileage one it will cost you.
If you want a high mileage one it may be cheap but will cost you more in the long run.
IMO it's better to pay up front ( for a low mileage one ) than to be stuck with a slug. One needing repairs daily.
It's your choice.
Good Luck

I looked high and low for almost a year before I bought mine. I was looking specifically for a Blue but had such a hard time I went with my second option a Silver Birch. Just when I was set to give up on both colors and buy a black 1 my silver popped up on my local auto trader. Next day drove my truck to Tampa, haggled for about an hour and drove her home happy as hell. As with any used car i had a few problems but nothing worse than what I expected.
Take your time, be patient, and you will be rewarded. Good luck.

You are worried about the drivetrain? If the car is NA, the rear and trans can take it all day long. As long as the car has a reasonable amount of mileage, you are not taking that much of a crap shoot with these cars. These cars are not powerful enough NA to be breaking things. If there was not one good car in 13 then you are being too picky in that price range.

Rick, that sounds like a good price for a rare DBP.

Cvpiftw- Just keep an eye out, you never know when something might pop up.

Oh and we still need to get-together sometime, hopefully after these ridiculous subzero temps.

Thats what im hoping. I just spent a bit of the money on something a bit more important and realized i need to have more set aside incase the very possible possibility of me losing my job comes around.

I went 300+ miles for mine. I knew I wasnt going to find a reasonable priced MM in the area @ the time. 20K+ one year ago...:shake: So i expanded my search...and it made for a nice road trip going and coming. Just hang in there..."good things come to those who wait," so I have heard.

Just wait.

You are 17, and speaking form experience, in todays world, at your age, wait.

I had my life planned and set, or so I thought.

I was 17 and had a CVPI. I had a promising job as a CNC Programmer and operator. I got certified in the feild and was looking at making upwards of $26/hr right out of highschool. I got fired form my job because of bad attendance.

I was then rehired at the place after the old shop foreman was fired for wrongfully firing people, go figure! I took the job with a little more pay, but was still not making what I was promised. I was told I was too young to make good dough.... no matter what my work looked like. After an accident at work that sidelined me for 8 weeks and returning to work, I quit. You are right, $h!t does happen for a reason. I had a temp job in between and then found my current employer. I couldnt be happier.

Although I am young, I worked hard to get my "toys". So have my brothers and although we get setbacks, find the good in them. I sold my MM, one because of mechanical hassles, and two becasue I felt I could better use my money for the time being.

Just hold on and use this site to your advantage. If I had found MM.net before I bought mine, I would have had a different MM. Trust me, waiting is a good thing.

Best of luck
Adam

When you can, you'll find the right one. It took me over a year and some divine intervention to find mine. I bought a MM new in 2003, and sold it 6 mos later for personal reasons. I figured I'd never find a nice, clean, 1 owner car that was good enough to replace my first MM. I drove 15 hrs to look at some heap of crap that was suppose to be mint. After several wild goose chases, I too had given up. Then I got lucky. Mine was posted on the internet for 5 hours when I found it. It was only 100 miles away. Super clean, 1 owner, all service records, bill of sale, keys and everything you'd expect a 13,000 mile unmolested Marauder to be. I paid a lot more than 9 grand, but every 9,000 dollar Marauder had 100k or more and looked like it was beat harder than a rented mule. Bottom line, if you look hard enough and wait until you feel right about the car, you'll never regret the purchase. Good Luck!

Sure, I've had some fun like a night at Epping about 4 years ago (looooong before gears and stuff), but I've never "beat" on her. Heck, my w is jealous that I treat my car better than I treat her. lol
Yes, she has 120k on the clock. But those were very loving, well taken care of miles.

+1 to that Mike.....you won't find a better car for the price
