Lately my Marauder had been overheating and the air only worked on extreme low and extreme high (no where in the middle). Today, I changed the thermostat to a 180 degree stat assuming that this would fix the problem. Once I started the car and drove it briefly, it began to overheat again. No heat would circulate although the engine was hot. Does anyone know what else could be wrong? Is there a sensor that could be bad?

Have you burped the system? It takes a little while longer than the typical cooling systems.

Also make sure the t-stat opens at 180!!! I have had many that never open or open way too hot, and there was a post here or on MCM about someone buying 3 or 4 and only 1 worked right.

There is also an electronically controlled fan assembly doohickey that went bad on Blue Thunder and caused overheating. Sorry I cannot remember it's real name.

Cooling fan motor?
I think it was the thermostatic solenoid thingie that cycles the electric fan off and on as needed. Sorry that I am so mechanically challenged. :(

Old thread alert.
Got the overheating issue. Trying to diagnose and test options before changing the thermostat. blazen71 and I burped it Saturday and it seemed to help, but the problem is back. I read somewhere that people have burped multiple times. How many times should I burp before giving up? And how full should the crossover tube be when I'm at operating temperature? Any advice would be appreciated.

With the car cold, fill the crossover tube as much as you can, then start the engine with the crossover cap slightly loose. Once you have no more bubbles your troubles should be gone.
I've had to do it several times over the course of a week to get them all out.

I had same problem, it was an air pocket in the system. Get a flush.
