Looking for a little day trip for the weekend coming up, any ideas? I was thinking about anywhere 2 hours out from the DC area. Any suggestions?:confused:

I've driven by there on my way to the Outer Banks....I know that there are canals and a lake in The Great Dismal Swamp.
Can you drive to the lake?, or is it hiking only?

If you have any military history/interest the Marine Corps museum in Quantico is amazing. Exit 150 off of 95. I can't miss it when we travel into the area and it changes as it grows. My niece is Air Force and was amazed.

Go visit Luray Caverns...it's still 50 degree F inside. Neat place to go in the winter.

2 hours out from DC doesn't get you very far -- at 10 miles per hour. :rolleyes:

Historic Town of Occoquan (I-95 South, Exit 160)
Quantico USMC Museum (I-95 South, Exit 150A)
Fredericksburg Historic Area (I-95 South, Exit 130A)
Annapolis Harbor (US 50 East)
Baltimore Harbor -- Aquarium and MD Science Museum. (MD 295 North)

Thanks guys, I think the Caverns and USMC sounds sweet. I didn't know the Caverns were 54 degrees year round, sounds very nice! Thanks again!

Go to Atlanta to the Coca-Cola museum 140 different varieties of soft drink heh just a tad over 2 hours :D

You gotta get out to more Marauder events. During Marauderville V, we lead a convoy of about 20 Marauders along Skyline Drive and then visited Luray Caverns as a group on one of the Tours.

CAM visited the USMC museum followed by dinner at the German Restaurant in Stafford, VA in Nov 07. Think we had about 18 MMs and 30 people for that one.

We also did a Gettysburg weekend in October 2008 with a bunch of MMs and folks.

You gotta get out more with us. :D
