Next time watch out, those bad boys can run 12's if need be. Samew ith SRT-8 Cherokee's. I've seen some with nitrous (100 or less) only, no other mods run mid 12's.

The RWD are a tad bit faster than the AWD units, but they are both impressive for a 5000lb SUV that also has a torque challenged motor when completely stock. Just like torque challenged vehicles like the Marauder, it too responds VERY well to mods like a high stall torque converter. GM tuned things rather conservatively, so the TBSS responds very well to many mods. Doing a custom tune along will gain us at least 0.3 seconds in the 1/4 mile, which greatly increases drivability. The next step for us is a CAI which is impressive due to a very restrictive factory setup, and then eFans to get rid of the mechanical fans. However stock for stock, a Marauder will have NO chance against a TBSS. A Marauder at the least will likely need 4.10 gears, and a higher stall torque converter.

The SRT8 Jeep is a different story off the line thanks to a close ratio 5 speed transmission, along with a higher stall torque converter.

My wife bought an 09 Sportrac Adrenalin awd.It has the 4.6 3 valve engine, 292 HP & about 300 ft/lbs of torque with a lovely 6 speed auto box. I've driven it a couple times & am impressed with it. Can't wait for spring to see what this thing will do.

They are pretty nice rides. I have raced two of them and each race was extremely close, so close that a win or loss boils down to the launch and hence, the driver. I am assuming they were both stock which makes them quite an impressive vehicle!

Dir Sir, I mean absolutely no disrespect but I must raise the BS flag here based upon your post of "As is now I think I may be in the high 13's" and what you have listed in the time slip page 14.510@98.09.

There is no doubt you beat the gentleman in the traiblazer but one of several things must have happened for you to have beat him by "2-3 cars". Either, he wasn't really racing, you got a huge jump, he had no idea what he was doing or it was a regular trailblazer in SS clothing, which does happen more times than I would have even believed.

The slowest of the traiblazer SS are very low 14s and are usally in the high 13s. We have one trailblazer that has run 13.3 with just lighter wheels, no other mods. With a CAI and e-fans I ran 13.7@102 in horrible DA. In 8* weather the TBSS would really wake up. A 13.5 SS in normal DA would be a 12.8 SS in 8* weather.

We have in excess of 3500 members on our Forums. I am sure we have a Trailblazer SS in your area that would have comparable mods to yours what ever they may be and would be willing to run. I have $100 that says I know the outcome.

If you would like to meet up, I am sure we can get the race set up. If the $100 is not enough of a pot, we have many members that will chip in to raise it.

BTW I love these cars. We have one running around here on a turbo making about 500rwhp. I have never seen it run but would love too.

Peace,
Silly Trailblazer.

I stated in my above post there is no doubt he beat the Trailblazer but there has to be more to it, more even than the OP may have known.

I joined to make the little wager between car nuts.

We all love to see the rivals go at it, or some of us do, makes things more intersting.

What could be better than a 5000lbs high performance SUV and 4500lb high performance grand mother car go at it?

Sounds like an honest challenge. If you're being called out, either put up or shut up. Those are your only choices. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the TBSS stylewise, but I can appreciate it from a performance standard. I've posted kills before, but I've also posted losses. Hey, they happen, so if you brag about a kill, be prepared to be called out on it.

Although if we have a "grand mother car" as he states, then I suppose his SUV is "sluggish useless vehicle"? Either way, you only have to race him to find out what's what.

I meant absolutley no offense by the grandmother car statement....sure you have heard it before....my grandmother always drove a mercury grand marquis.

just as we, soccer mom SUV owners, have been called all sorts of things. When attending a track that requires a helmet for anything faster than 14.0 I have had people litteraly laughing and pointing. Of course the laughing doesn't last long.

Just some good ole fashion ribbing between guys that dare to be different.

You sir, are someone I'd hang with anyday. You "get it". I hope you get the rematch you've requested.

I've kicked some butt, but also been kicked down by some unassuming cars. Smile and wave is all you can do! You read up on factory stats, and hope the guy hasn't done too many mods. Either way, hitting the loud pedal is always fun, and I can appreciate ANY for of performance, no matter the package. Quite honestly, I wish we had more guys like you on this board as owners. Be safe out there.

Maybe some day I will own one. I like the looks, styling and the potential. I would not mind a Marauder with a good forced induction system that could run mid 11s and still be a DD. I think that would make a good match to my DD 11 second Trailblazer.

Whats up psrumors? I know you from the TBSS site. Saw the thread over there...but didn't know you joined up here. Good for you.

Guys...I own a 2004 Marauder. I also own a 2006 SS Trailblazer.

Stock for stock the SS Trailblazer absolutely humiliates a Marauder...I'm sad to say. It's true.

Bone stock my Marauder went 15.1 @ 93

Bone stock my SS Trailblazer went 14.33 @ 97

Right now my Marauder is modded nicely, and runs 13.60's all day and traps over 100 every time, no matter how hot, or cold. It's pretty damn consistant.

Right now, my SS Trailblazer is custom tuned by Lidio @ Alternative Auto. The SS drives/feels 100% better now with the tune than it did stock.

I'd have to say, that the SS with a tune only...would give my well modded Marauder a run for it's money. I doubt it'll run a 13.60, but I'd bet easly a 13.9, possibly a 13.8, with just a tune!

Anyone with a Marauder that thinks they'll be well into the 13's with just a CAI, tune, and 4.10's...think again. You'll need that, plus a torque converter, long tube headers, and custom exhaust....at a minimum!

I love my SS Trailblazer. It's an all around fantastic buy. The truck drives like a sports car, came with a badass LS2, and lives up to it's name.

Just my opinion.

I'm still laughing about the tale of beating a Honda S2k,you really need to learn to tell a late model Mazda Miata from an S2K cause you're gonna get embarassed when you run into a real S2K in the hands of a capable driver.

Ok, so that makes it a tune, 4.10's, pullies, CAI...and "full exhaust"...which means what? Long tubes? Manifolds? Shorties? full custom exhaust from headers back? What size exhaust?

With those mods..."without" a converter...I'd guess a 13.9 - 14.0. Maybe a tenth or two better depending if you're running it in this winter cold.

I've removed my signature, because nothing here really matters any more. But if you wanted to know, my Marauder runs consistent 13.60's @ 100+ all day, no matter if it's warm, or cold out, or whatever other excuse you can think of.

My mods,

That vid is an example of why ford should have fab'd a way to get the 5.4 in our cars, or at least slapped a simple blower on our 4.6s.

They should have just given us the Lightnings motor (supercharged 5.4L). It would have made sense seeing as the Lightning was ending its run at around the time the Marauder came up.

From what I understand, it likely would not have fit without some modifications to the hood. Luckily, you guys do have Trilogy to help make up for this shortfall. I'm also not sure if you guys would have been able to even get any traction with the Lightning motor.

Of course, I remember that one of the reasons why Ford didn't go with even a 5.4 at the time was it not fitting, but also because Ford didn't want the Marauder to get hit with a gas guzzler tax. Ain't CAFE a *****? Get used to it though, because it is very likely that many of us will be forced into buying tin cans we don't want to drive by 2020. This is why i'm making sure to take care of my TBSS as best I can, and you guys should take care of your Marauders as best you can. When these social fascists prevail, at least we'll have our cool cars as we drive by them and give them the finger.

Are you interested in racing a local TBSS? Put some $ behind your mouth.

My mods,

Lidio's tune
Stainless Works Longtubes
Full custom exhaust
PI3000
4.10s
CAI
Drag Radials

13.60's @ 100 + every time. I did my homework.

Thats it. I never wasted my money on stuff that doesn't make you go fast. You know, like stat, plugs, cop's, pullies, spacers, etc.

Those little non-functional bolt-on's put me into the same 1/4 mile times as you with street tires and stock exhaust.

If I was to add header's, a full exhaust with drag radial's, those "non working mods" would no doubt give me consistant 13.3-13.5's all day in all temp's, Maybe even a 13.0 in the cold.

As for a TBSS vs MM. You have a stronger starting point in the TBSS. They are running a 13.9-14.0 bone stock compared to the dismal 14.9-15.5 the Marauder run's stock. It wouldn't take half as many mod's to make a TBSS as fast as even a S/Ced Marauder.

I never raced one, but Im pretty secure in saying that it will be a good race with my car and a lightly modded TBSS.

I'll back you up DTR only because you are a fellow Marauder owner. I also like to bet on the long shot as well. :D

We have in excess of 3500 members on our Forums. I am sure we have a Trailblazer SS in your area that would have comparable mods to yours what ever they may be and would be willing to run. I have $100 that says I know the outcome.

No offense, but that is not a fair race. A TBSS is obviosly faster than a Marauder in stock form. So it's no secret that a TBSS with some mods vs a Marauder with "comparable" mods would win. Miguel, race for the fun of it, but dont waste your money. A race that's a bit more fair would be a Marauder with a tune and gears vs a stock TBSS.

Damn this has to be the longest kill thread ever! All because mikey smoked a TBSS! Maybe i need to start targeting the BOWTIE boys and leave the hemis alone (they were becoming boring anyway).

There is no way you'll run a 13.0 N/A adding exhaust and drag radials...especially if they're widened wheels like I have. Cruztaker had everything under the sun, way more than you, and still only managed a best of 13.2...which is still the fastest N/A Marauder (stock engine) time ever as far as I know...not to mention he weighs maybe 140lbs. Also...don't forget...my drag radials on my currently N/A Marauder aren't for track times! They're for my upcoming supercharger installation. Ive had them since 2004 because I loved the way they looked, and since before most people around here have even had their Marauder. If anything...my drag radials take off time right now. At least a tenth or two.

The only thing of those non functional mods that's worth anything IMO are the pullies.

Stat, plugs, cops, water pumps...etc, etc...no matter what you say...are still just a waste of money to me.
