For those of you who do their own oil changes and are tired of the drips, spills, dropping the plug in the oil drain pan, etc. Get one of these. Also got one for the better half's Charger. Made by Fumoto (www.fumotousa.com). The Marauder P/N is F-106 (Charger is the same).

I've had this on for about 20k miles, never a drip as you can see the underside. I didn't wipe that drip off after closing the valve. I got mine from eBay, about $10.00 each.

Seriously, Fumoto valves are highly-regarded over on BITOG. The only drawback is when the drain plug is on the bottom of the pan.

On my airplane yes, But I was always to afraid to put one on a car because it would hang down to low and get knocked off.I am just worrying for nothing most likely.

I don't think they sell them on their website. I got mine on eBay.

The oil in all my cars is religiously changed every 5k miles. And I only use Mobile 1.

Last oil analysis showed no unusual wear or contaminants and they recommended going to 6k between changes.

I intsalled a Fram SureDrain (http://www.jegs.com/p/Fram+&+Autolite/750898/10002/-1) on my old MGM, and I liked it so much, when I got the MM I made sure to keep it.

I've got the Fram for my Aerostar and Fumoto on my Capri.
What Fram part # did you use for your MM?
I did'nt see a listing for the MM.

I used the kit that I bought for my 1994 MGM. I think it's the one that uses the 14mm bolt (their SD2 kit). I think they've stopped making them, because I can't find the product on their website, and the application guide lists nothing for any application newer than 2002.

I replaced the orange hose that came with the kit with a longer piece of heater hose - perfect for draining directly into a used oil jug on a windy day :) OTH, there is a version of the fumoto valve with a nipple on it that could do the same thing.

If something hits your car hard enough to break that you have bigger problems, like the oil pan is missing!

I only spill oil with the filter, and a magic drain plug won't stop that. It's still the smallest automotive mess I could possibly make. I slicked my garage down with ATF again pulling an engine last night, spilled several quarts. Already cleaned up though, concrete is not bad to get clean again.

For me it's more about not having to handle the hot plug and dropping it into the oil pan. Then having to reach into the hot oil and fish it out.

Heavy (lined) rubber gloves take care of this for me!!

Getting the drain plug out without dropping it or wearing oil usually isn't a problem for me.

The think I think would make oil changes easier would be some sort of tray that goes under the oil filter so it doesn't flow down and around the crossmember and power steering rack. I have had mixed results by making a disposable tray out of aluminum foil.

some sort of tray that goes under the oil filter They've been available for years. I believe they're even standard on the '05 and up cars.

Or use a remote filter like some of us did.
