I went to Gainesville Raceway Saturday for test and tune. We had a large time! Conditions were pretty good, it was sunny and in the low 50's (cool for down here in FL). This was my chance to get some base times before making changes to my newly acquired MM. This was also my chance to learn how to launch a supercharged Marauder! Very challenging.
My other car was N/A but still pretty fast (13.90 @ 99.9 mph). It launched very easily as I could mat it on the third yellow and with 22 psi in the rear tires and it would not spin with the tires if they were heated up and a well groomed track. This consistent package yielded me a fouth place finish in the Street Ford class in Bristol during Fun Ford Weekend 2005 (the only car driven to the event to make the final eight).
This car is completely different! Easily able to overcome the stock rear tires, finesse off the line ISthe race. With 22 psi in the rear tires I still had to tip in slowly at launch, increasing the pedal action as the car gained momentum. Too much pedal and you smoke 'em.
My three runs (it was pretty crowded) were:
R/T 60' 1/8 1/4 mph
.196 2.231 8.777 13.356 107.22
.203 2.382 8.923 13.479 107.22
.351 2.169 8.619 13.178 107.21

I spun a little each run. Tires (and wide wheels) are definitely the limiting factor. They get bumped up the priority list of mods. The car is very consistent once hooked. Note that the car was raced heavy. There is an unused nitrous kit still on the car. I had The trunk organizer, spare tire, small cooler, jumper box and small air compressor among my cleaning supplies in the trunk.
Bootlegger had this car: 60'- 1.985 1/8-8.417 @84.81
1/4- 13.050 @ 104.99

He was obviously leaving better than I was (are you watching? Any tips? Were you on the bottle?).

This is Trilogy #127, Tuning by Lidio, 4:30 gears, stock exhaust and stock rear tires. Stay tuned as I hope to get this car to a reliable 12.50 with tires, new exhaust, a few minor tweaks and supporting tune.

BTW, as we were leaving a Silver Birch MM pulled in the staging lanes. I spoke briefly with the driver who said it was a friend's car and he was letting him run it (Good Friend)!

Mel never ran nitrous with the Trilogy.
The Lidio tune is a "boxed" tune. Lidio never personally tuned the car.
That car has a lot of potential. With exhaust and a dyno tune, that car should easily be 12.5 or better.

Stock tires are like racing on ice. They are POS's. With decent tires you should be in the 1.8's 60'.

Also work on your R/T's The 1/2 were good. The last one yes it was your best time but with an R/T like that if the car in the next lane gets out quicker but is slower it'll beat ya.

Russell,

Great to hear you're back out Maraudering.

Sounds like you'll be down there in the 12's once you can get the car to hook.
