Hi Guys-

As some of you read, my Crown Vic was destroyed 10 days ago by a drunk. It was parked, so no one was hurt that I care about. It was a 99 LX HPP with 67,500 miles. I'm getting $10K from insurance which seems a little better than fair.

Bought a 03 300A for $25,900. It was built in 8/02 and had 14 miles on it Saturday when I climbed in for the test drive. When was job 1 on these cars?

Questions!

1. Any suggestions on cleaning up the paint? I have clayed it, meguires 1,2,3'd it and there are some issues. Nothing too disturbing, but still sux.

2. I have the linkage issue and the sub knockout issue. Question, how do I get the vertical (back) portion of the back seat out? And the likage adjustment, where is the adjustment made? Is it easy to reach once car is off the ground? (I haven't been under the car yet)

3. Anyone using Mobile 1? When did you switch over. Me thinks Second oil change at 6K is a good choice.

4. My drivers sun visor is all loose, but seems it's loose under the headliner as I tried to tighted the three hex screws holding it in place and they are all tight. ANyone?

5. I noticed the drivers side fender and the headlight bezel above the wheel opening don't meet. There is a gap of at least a quarter inch there. Anyone have this issue and have it fixed?

6. Locking lug nuts. How much and where?

7. Polishing wheels and exhaust? What products do you use and do either of the wheels or exhaust have any clear coat on them?

8. The drivers side rear door is rattling. It's the part of the door that you pull it closed with. Anyone know how to tear into that?

I've notice little things about the MM that are lacking when compared to the Vic. The seatbelts don't have a little plastic bump on them to hold the buckle at about mid door keeping them from sliding down to the floor. The dash is the same, although tighter. The speakers flat out suck and I had a basic radio in the Vic.

Overall, this car kicks ass compared to anything in it's class in price, looks, and overall fun. I'd much rather have three of these than an AMG MB or a BMW M5.

Next step is window tint and then gears. After 6K miles and Mobile 1 will be time for the chip or reprogram.

Sorry to bombard y'all with so many questions...so excited about it.

These are all good questions and I have the same. My MM was sitting on the lot for a full year with many of the same problems. The dealer has had my MM for over 3 weeks and has taken care of most problems. As far as the radio and speakers, replace them.
I am still happy with my MM, fun to drive and easy on the bottom.

1. I had to have mine color sanded because of paint bloches. Almost looked like orange peel. You may have to do the same.

2. Never had this issue, but I'd ask your dealer.

3. I did switch to Mobil 1 5W30 at 1,000 miles. At 4,500 miles I went Royal Purple 5W20.

4. Dunno...

5. Not sure what you're talking about here.

6. Like $20 at Pep Boy's or similar store.

7. Wheels are clear coated, so no abrasives. I use Fast Wax on them, works well. The tips I use a chrome polishing wad by Never Dull.

8. I've got that problem with my driver front door. Only thing is, I wouldn't trust my dealership to fix it and not give the car back to me with something else wrong. I live with it...

One other thing, you may want to consider doing your chip and gears at the same time. Don't do gears alone. There's more than just the speedo that'll go nuts with a gear change.

Congrats on the New Marauder!
Enjoy.....most of the problems you note
can be worked out. Set your priorities and
see the dealer.
Gotta Love it!

Thanks to the info recommended & provided on this site, I was able to drop my sub out by removing the spare tire and removing the four mounting nuts (requires 12MM socket as I recall) and pulling out the surplus mastic. It took a grand total of 10 minutes to do.

Congratulations again!!!
