As of right now my 03 is stock and I am trying to get an idea of what I want to do to it. I know I want a JLT intake a tune that Marauder spacific Magnaflow catback system "whenever that is ready"... but I don't know about the gears at first I was dead set on the 4.10s but I don't know what about the 4.30s? I don't know a lot about cars so here are a few questions hope they are not to stupid. Is there a price difference in the install of the two? Are there tunes made for the 4.30s? Anything else that someone wants to say would also be welcome. Just trying to figure things out.

4:10's will increase your rpms slightly at 70 mph (about 200 - 300 rpm).

If you use the car as a DD, they are probably your best bet all around.

You'll need to get a tune to go along with the gears to correct your shift schedule, but the gears along with the tune will really wake the car up.

I doubt you could tell the difference between 4:10 & 4:30's.
The costs will be the same, give or take.
Either gear will be no problem to retune.

I've driven the 4:30's for 40,000 miles now & they have been just fine. I don't do sustained driving over 100 mph, so on the highway they are just fine. I got just under 20mpg on a 2000 mile road trip. You only live once.

4.30's!!!!!!!!!!!!

4.10's are great but IMHO you will feel a big diff between them durring that "soft spot" in 1st gear between the TQ converter stall and actually getting into the power band.

I went with 4.10s, but unless you spend everyday on the interstate going 70MPH plus, 4.30s would be reasonable.

If I NEVER drove on the interstate, I'd even consider 4.56. (sorry if I'm slightly off with those numbers)

To figure out your new RPM for any speed with new gears, if you know your RPM at that speed with the stock (3.55) gears, multiply by:

4.10/3.55 = approximately 1.15 or about 15 percent greater for 4.10s
4.30/3.55 = approximately 1.21 or about 20 percent greater for 4.30s

So, at 2000 RPM, there's only 100 RPM difference between the two.

Yup, that's right on. At 70 mph with 3:55's, you're running about 2,100 rpm., with 4:10's they're up to about 2,400.

forget the gears. Get a Trilogy and you'll have the best of both worlds. Lower RPM's and rediculous HP. I love getting 24 MPG and doing the 1/4 in 13 sec!:banana2:

I've got 4.30's that I am going to attempt to install myself. I'm gathering the tools needed now. Dead blow hammer, dial-indicator, slide hammer (to remove axle bearings), etc. Gonna go ahead and put all new fresh parts in while I'm in there. Might as well. Probably will replace the cover too.

Don't forget your Rotunda pinion depth tool. Do a search on this, will be very informative.

If I could afford a supercharger I assure I wouldn't even be asking about the gears... Someday... I hope.
