Just installed the magnaflow kit and it is pretty loud!! Not sure if I am liking it right now because it doesn't really fit the car. Might end up throwing a couple of resonators in there, or maybe put the last two cats back on it. It kind of sounds like a ford svt lightning with gibson mufflers/pipes. Here are some pics, video in the near future.

Give it tiime---mine was that way too--wanted to rip it off the same day--after a few days---loved it--BTW--so will everyone who hears it before you get there---- better yet--let someone drive it in a parking lot( where there are no other cars around of course) in circles and short straights- with short burst---then you'll see what I mean---you'll likely keep it as did---and not look back---

Well I will give it a week and if I am still not happy I can always give to someone else.

I installed mine on my'04 CVPI, added a 2" H pipe while installing it and was extremely satisfied with it. Replaced the stock cats with Maganflow Hi-Flow replacement "exact" fit cats so I ran the four cats, but hi-perf...

Ok, I see you have the mufflers for sale. Just wondering what you're going to put on there now.

I put my friends 2004 mustang mach 1 stock mufflers on it. Still sounds mean without the heavy drone/bass while I drive the car. I really like the sound of it. The funny thing is that I gained that low end torque after the muffler swap. I am not sure why though.

Yep, still for sale. Too loud and drone quite a bit and gives off alot of bassy sound while driving normal.

The 2V motors like some back pressure. If I remember correctly you deleted the rear cats also. That, along with the big tubes and the straight thru mufflers did not provide enough back pressure and you lost the low end torque. The Mach 1 mufflers gave you the back pressure you need to boost the low end. Classic case of bigger is not always better.

Your right, cannot believe the before/after affect on the low end torque from the muffler swap. It may be weird to say this but it feels like I gained about 50lbs. torque on the low end. I do love the feel of the car just the way it is right now, and it sounds pretty good too.

Ultimately thats what counts the most. You feel like the car has more power and it sounds good to you. Thats a win-win my friend.

NO engine LIKES backpressure, what he needed was a tune for the added airflow the cat delete and free flowing mufflers gave him.

Lots of reading here so grab a snack and read up.

Maybe on an old carbureted car this is true, but a newer car will not always benefit from cat deletes.

did you read ? All engine ingest air the same, how it gets its fuel makes no difference.

Damn every time this thread pops up I get excited and then I see its not an exhaust kit for the MM (which takes a second because from the side it looks like my car!)

Summary: on the exhaust stroke if the piston has to fight "backpressure" then more energy is taken away from the engine's crank. (that thing that makes the car move) :D

Small exhaust is better for low rpm torque. Large exhaust is better for high rpm power.

Nonsense, his paint is nicer :D

To bad the magnaflow cat back never happend for our cars... It really wouldn't have been hard or expensive for them to take the already designed CV kit, and increase the pipe size to 2.5"

I too am disappointed in Magnaflow for not making the 2.5" for the Mercury Marauder seeing that it is more of a performance sedan and would definitely benefit the most with the larger tubes especially with the high reving 32 valve motor.

What supercharger do you have on your 06 p71? I am thinking of getting one that is self lubricant and can be driven in cold temperatures, have you had any problems with yours? Just curious thanks.
