OWNED!!

My good friend Josh has an F-150 4dr Harley with an additional 4lbs of boost and a custom tune. It makes about 380rwhp and 400+ft-lbs.

Friday night on the way to a manditory bar meeting to discuss cars, women, guns, and politics we ran on the freeway. Sadly I had 2 other 200-220lb guys ridding with me. He had his 140lb military buddy with him. :help:

From 55 both of us locking it in 2nd to get a good even start his truck immediatly jumped about 3ft on me. Getting the RPM's up and with the 6300rpm shift I gain a little bit of ground back but he extends his lead and gets his back bumper to my front at about 120. DOH!!! :alone:We did the race about 3-4 times. Same result. (except the last one, I went on the 2nd honk. HAHAHAHA)

We plan on running again this time without 400+lbs of extra weight in the car. From a stop I'm thinking he'll destory me so it'll likely be another roll run.

you really shouldn't click to 2 and go WOT since the OD band will be engaged and is very easy to kill :D

Lol! What's the ol' saying "If You Ain't Cheating You Ain't Trying".
A guy I work with has the Harley truck, I like the seats, they are comfy. I wonder if they'd bolt right up to our rails?

I didn't let the car downshift itself. I turned OD off then moved the shifter into 2nd. Waiting for that 2nd gear downshift will EASILY cost you any race.... Start the race then slide it up to Drive, the tune will then shift into 3rd at whatever its set at.

Like I said, when you put the shifter into 2nd, no matter if you turned off the OD with the button, the OD band will be engaged once the shifter is in the 2 spot. There have been a lot of threads about this issue.

^^^What Suki said.
The valve body will engage the OD band whenever its in '2', there is no way around this. Its there for starts in icy conditions.

Waiting for it to shift yes, when it does it when I want to it has won me quite a few races.

Isn't 2nd gear, 2nd gear, What does that have to do with OD? I understand 2nd gear locks it in that gear even at a stop, but...

Yes it is 2nd gear but the OD band is engaged at the same time(IE it doesn't matter than you haven't gone into "OD" as you would normally think about it, the valve body does what it does, and just as Zack says, no way around it ), when the OD band is engaged and you go WOT lets just say the OD band isn't going to last long. Many have learn't that lesson the hard way over the years.

There is one thing on cars I have no problem admitting I will not touch with a 10ft pole. Transmission internals. With that said I really don't know squat about them.

I'll Remove/replace trannies all day. But I'm not touchin the guts!!!

So you can't let the car downshift to 2nd, and you can't lock it 2nd? I did it on my other MM all the time and I didn't have any issues.

you can indeed let it down shift. If you hit the O/D button and go WOT and it shifts into 2nd, that will be 2nd with no O/D band. If you click into 2 with the selector then that is second with O/D band engaged... if you went wot with the selector in 2 on your previous car without issue, I would consider that fortunate, and certainly it may never break if you are lucky enough. Mechanically though there is def extra un-needed stress on the band and many have done down because of the band :o
