Admins, is it possible to set up a photo contest?

On another forum I am part of, they have a monthly contest of photos taken of their trucks, or in our case MM. Each month members submit their pics and at the end of the month, members vote for who wins.

The topic of the next contest is set by the winner of the last contest.

Such as, one contest was Halloween themed shots. The winner then decided the next contest would be shots containing water.

I think this is a great way for members to uniquely show off thier MMs and would also bring about some interesting ideas. Who knows what someone might think up. There would be a thread about the entries, and a Sticky with a poll showing the final entries.

The rules should be:
1. One entry per member
2. Picture must contain a Marauder, unless otherwise specified
3. Pictures may be entered more than one time, as long as it pertains to the theme.
4. Member must have rights to the photo... no taking other members pics of their cars!

1. It's a car website... use your best judgment (or PM the picture to a monitor first if you don't have good judgment):)
2. No animals were harmed in the filming of this picture:eek:
3. No pictures of you breaking the law:shake:

Refer to rule number 1. I guess that depends on where they are taken. In front of the school crossing sign dodging little kids might not be the best idea (no I don't know how many points that is:)). On the track or some air strip or industrial area, a burnout may be required. Not sure about Maryland State parks (empty parking lot) while being filmed by local news crews. That one would have to go to a monitor for a ruling. :burnout:

We do a bi-weekly contest, to keep it fresh and interesting. We tried it with three weeks, and it was too long.

how it works:

Contest 1 starts, last two weeks. A voting thread/poll is created, at the same time, contest 2 starts. While contest 2 is open, and at the end of the voting (which usually lasts a week), contest 3 is picked by winner of 1.

Our contest does allow some photoshopping....which ruins it honestly. Originally minor editing and color editing were fine, and it made for some great shots.

Great Pics! I like the format, however it could get close looped if the winners picked the other winners. Open voting would eliminate that perception.

This photo contest idea had some traction last March according to search engine. It got off track and became a person of the month. I think that was well intentioned but would be fire starter and it seemed to died a natural death.

There was also concerns about color voting blocks. There's only so many blues but they stick together... Good for them! The format suggested is about a theme, not just the best looking MM. It's about the photo not the color, mods, owner. The winners you posted from the other site showed winners with nice but not spectacular looking trucks.

And you are correct....it makes it more fun. The winners are (usually) picked based on the quality of the picture, not necessarily the vehicle in the picture. The best looking truck doesn't always win.

Im just curious, Why hasn't this started?? A new theme each month, we don't need a entire new forum for this. The first 3 week's will be collecting the pics in the thread, then the last week a poll will be created to vote on your favorite.
I think this was more for bragging right's then to win anything?? Maybe at the end if the Admin's want, they can take the 12 winner's and make a calendar for the following year with the procede's going to support the site.

The thread for entries will last for 2 weeks.Then there will be voting for 1 week on all entries. Winner will choose topic 3. Aaron, Rocknthehawk, will choose topic 2, since he is the only other one to have entered this format of contest.

tito, at the end of the challenge duration, the entries thread will be closed, or at least submissions will not be accepted, and a poll will be created. winner of the poll wins the challenge, and picks the new challenge topic.
