I have a 2004 Marauder that is very disappointing performance wise. The car is completely stock. My 1996 Cadillac Concours will knock the pants off of my Marauder. I drove a Mach 1 Mustang before I purchased my Marauder and could not believe the performance right from the showroom so I thought the Marauder would have a decent amount of kick as well. Boy was I wrong. Can't even to get this thing to spin the tires. The engine runs perfect but something seems off. I am writing to you today to see if you can offer some help. I, like the rest of the country right now have little money so a super charger is out of the question. I have seen some info on tuners and am wondering if something like that will help me gain just a little hp. They seem to be in a price range I can afford. I am not very tech savvy so I would need a tuner that is easy to use or some much appreciated help from a guy like you. I am used to my '70's muscle cars but would like to have a daily driver that won't get swallowed up by the souped up Civic of some kid. I would like a street car that has that performance edge and is fun to drive. Anything you can help with is greatly appreciated!

Get an Xcal 2/3 tuner, 4:10 gears and a cold air intake. All of this will wake the car right up!

They are mid 15 -> low 15 second cars bone stock...I would be careful who you race from a 'dig' until you get a few mods.
Once they are rolling the 4 valve does its job!

Turn off the TC when trying to do a burn out. If you still can't get some scratch time to mod it.

A higher stall torque converter does wonders also.

Patience, patience. Pls understand a thing or 2 about our beloved MMs. Regardless of what kind of performance you want, there is a weight DISadvantage bet. an MM and your Mustang Mach 1, like 1000 pounds. Once you completely understand the physics involved, you will realize why so many people here have modded their MMs. Suffice to say, Speed Ain't Cheap!
Like the others have said, get a plug-in tune, get gears, and a Cold Air Intake. Then if you want more, prepare to pay $8000 for the supercharger and install and then prepare to pay for busted items when the orig. stock parts break.
When you look at my sig, you will realize that I stoppd after the handling items. Yea, I want more speed, but not at the cost of Mucho Dinero!!! (Lots Of $$$) And that is on top of the orig.acquisition fee since I bought both mine new.
Good luck with your choices and welcome aboard!

I felt like you did when I got my Marauder. I couldnt break traction and the car felt sluggish. Now I have to be easy on the gas or Ill just set the rear tires up in smoke.
Start with the basic bolt-on's like a CAI, Pulley's, etc...
Get a set of 4.10's with a good tune and it won't feel like the same car you are driving now.

I deleted this narrative because I made a mistake and didn't note which forum it was in.

I apologize to Dennis Reinhart for posting about a competitors product in his forum. The rules state that a vendors forum should not be used to talk about a competitors product.

I'm sorry, it won't happen again.

If money is tight, begin with the tune. Order from Dennis or Lidio.

I would seriously consider a refurbished T-kit.
If you install it yourself, you will have a true appreciation of what it offers.

Todd,
Welcome. Good advise here. The search feature is your friend. You will find good information on mods on all of the Marauder web sites and be sure to check the vendor feedback on all of the sites to get a good feel for the vendors you can trust and those you cannot. Mods are expensive and getting the proper mods for what you want to accomplish is paramount to your wallet health and your happiness with the end result. Good luck, enjoy the site and have fun making your Marauder YOURS. Dennis:beer:

You might also want to subscribe to the "12 second" thread. Once you start modding, you may as well give in to the collective and go all the way. Its going to happen anyway...
