I have been at at a DUI class all week at a neighboring Police Department. Instead of parking in the visitors lot where all the "clients" park I have been parking in the employee lot with the local PD's officers cars.

This afternoon when class got out I exited the building and saw 5 Police Officers standing around my MM. I prepared myself for a butt chewing because I parked in "thier" lot. As I got closer I got the patented "Is this your car?" I said it was and asked if there was a problem.

Instead of the butt chewing I was bombarded with questions about the car. They said that they had seen me leave the parking lot the day before and all liked the look of the car and sound of the exhaust. I popped the hood and explained the difference between the Crown vic and the MM as best I could.

In all I had a bunch of fellow cops standing around my semi dirty MM talkng about how cool the MM's were and complaining about the demise of the Panther in the next couple of years. Good times were had by all. They wanted me to do a burn out in the lot but I dont need any trouble with another Department. It was tempting though.....

Lol, yeah but they asked so why would you get an arse chewing? I was home on leave at my Moms house in nowheresville TN back around 89-90 and our local LEO (we a whopping ONE) was asking me about the Navy, etc. etc. and was looking at my 81 Z-28 that was not even close to stock. I told him I was going to be raising hell in it while I was home, he told me not to run from him because while I might leave him on the straightaways, he'd catch me in the curves, lol. He said "Well, get your burnout out of the way now so I don't have to get called about it tonight." Dude, it was all I could do to keep from peeing myself with giddyness while I sat there in a cloud of smoking back tires, in the center of town, while he stood leaning against his cruiser shaking his head! Man, memories. He was old as dirt back then, and I saw him last year when I was back there, he's still kickin, but drives an unmarked Impala now instead of a Fury/Diplomat whatever it was. I remember he was mad cause he got stuck with that car and it only had a 318 in it, the one he had to give up had a 440. He had and still has a fantastic looking 67/68 Plymouth GTX. Wow, your post just brought back a flood of memories, thanks man.

1. Do you get to drink at the DUI class?
2. Did you tell the guys that you have two of those cars?

OK, three questions...how come you have all the fun?

1. Do you get to drink at the DUI class?

Yes but it was possibly the worst tasting whiskey I have ever had and we only got to do one shot.

2. Did you tell the guys that you have two of those cars?

I told them the wife drove a DTR. We all agreed that Black is the best color tho.

I didn't get to have any fun. Fun would have been smoking off the tires in the PD's parking lot. It was still work hours so the senior officers were still there. So no burnouts, I was seriously tempted tho.

Besides you have the Trilogy, now thats fun.

I had told a detail cop once that was hanging around our fire station that I was going to do a burnout right in front of him, he taunted me saying that my car could not do a burnout... I took that as him pushing me to do one and giving me permission... so I did it and it was a good one! Launched and kicked out sideways... it was a textbook burnout!!! It is fun to do burnouts in front of cops! Even if you do now the cop, it still feels cool.... YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE ONE!!! If a cop gives me the go-ahead to do a burnout in front of him... I DO IT!!!

Great story!

Reminds me of the gathering last year in KY out in the hotel parking lot after we convoyed back with the LEO escort.

That worked out alot better than Dom's burnout about an hour later, if I recall.....

Contrary to popular belief... LEOs are people too and I can imagine a lot loving muscle cars and horsepower!

Yup!

The two officers that escorted us last year were great guys, and with one or two exceptions over the years, any LEO I've met has been good people.

60% in my Station have a more than "its only transportation" interest in what they own/drive. Hack, I believe your logic was sound in not doing the burn out. Looks bad to John Q...
