I think the trunk lid thorough 2002 is aluminum. 2003 changed to steel.

Steel started in 98 with the new body style. Up until then the hood, trunk lid and front bumper were all aluminum. With the model change Ford was so far over the CAFE weight that going aluminum on those components made no difference so steel it was.

You'll have to remove the existing trunk lid before the new one will fit.

Don't waste 16 hours like I did.

Make sure you save the old paint off the scrap one and apply it to the new one. Nothing worse than non-matching paint.

BlueMarauder - I think the trunk lid thorough 2002 is aluminum. 2003 changed to steel.
ALL 1998+ Mercury Marquis ( which includes the Marauder ) and Crown Victoria are steel.
